  1. Geez another big blow for the Braves this season. Talk about bad luck. Acuna, Albies, Harris (missed a lot of time earlier), Murphy (missed a lot of time earlier), Strider, Minter and now Riley gone for 6-8 weeks. It's remarkable how they're 66-58 and holding down the #3 Wildcard spot. Soler has been out of the lineup for a couple days as well with an injury.
  2. The front office side of things isn't fixable overnight. Its easier to sign and trade for players every offseason than it is to hire a new team President or GM every offseason.
  3. Yeah but the part where he mentions how teams need 3-4 elite players and how the Jays never had a "pivot" after failing to sign Ohtani seems like he was alluding to the failures of the FO. Of course he probably "loves the guys he plays with" whether they're good or bad players and he's not going to say they suck and aren't good enough in public.
  4. Seems like its more directed at the front office. He specifically brought up Ohtani and how the Jays were willing to dangle $700M to sign him, but they never had a "pivot." For him to say that. Seems like he was frustrated and probably some other players in the clubhouse might have been frustrated that the FO never went out and made the upgrades necessary to the ball club that were needed. There was no backup plan really. He mentioned how competitive teams need 3-4 elite players and how someone like Vlad needs protection/help whatever that means. But yeah he mentioned he didn't want to throw any players under the bus or disrespect any of his teammates. So yes he probably knows the team isn't or wasn't good enough, but instead of placing blame on his teammates & coaches, it's more directed at the front office.
  5. Given the bullpen struggles this season, how do you think Yariel would fare as a multi-inning reliever out of the pen? Eventually he works himself into higher leverage situations if he's pitching well. I think they're keeping Bassitt. Would have made sense to trade him at the deadline. He doesn't hurt to have around as an innings eater.
  6. Nick Martinez has a 2.4 fWAR in 34 games and 8 starts this season. WTF? Is he that good? 0.93 BB/9 is quite impressive in 97 innings!
  7. Yeah they really have no choice. At least Bassitt only has one-year remaining and Gausman's salary is still very reasonable. Berrios contract though ugh. Sign someone from the second tier of FA arms (Eovaldi, Severino, Kikuchi, Pivetta) on a shorter term deal as a No 2/3 and the rotation should be fine. Hopefully Gausman returns to elite form and Bassitt/Berrios just continue to eat innings. I think they have enough depth/arms for the No. 5 spot or if injuries occur. Also, can always sign a swing-man like Nick Martinez or Jake Junis who can either start or pitch multiple innings out of the pen.
  8. Yeah one of those other arms on shorter term deals would be solid pickups as well if they decide not to spend big on someone like Burnes or Snell. Eovaldi would be really nice or bringing back Kikuchi.
  9. Nice to have some competition and depth for the No. 5 spot during Spring Training. Looks like Bowden Francis, Alek Manoah (if he's healthy), Yariel Rodriguez, Adam Macko, Jake Bloss might all compete for the last spot in the rotation. Whoever loses out is depth at Buffalo which is nice to have. Let's hope the Jays do sign a #1/2 starter this offseason.
  10. So its become the new Petco Park?
  11. Going to be an issue for the Yankees in the Postseason.

If anyone has Blue Jays season tickets and would like to go to a Bills Preseason game this Saturday in Buffalo, would be willing to trade for any Jays game. My Bills seats are Sec 330, Row 4, Seat 14 and 15.

    Fake.
  14. lol I gotta say out of all the City Connect jerseys, I think the Blue Jays one is one of the best.
  15. I don't understand why someone would get Apple TV. There really aren't any good movies available or superb series IMO. I tried a 3-month free trial of Apple TV+ because I wanted to watch Napoleon, and watched a couple episodes of Presumed Innocent, but otherwise didn't see much of a great selection of movies or series when scrolling through the app. Unless if you're a big Ted Lasso fan lol.
  16. Netflix has become very expensive now. If you want the premium version where you can stream movies in 4K, it's like $20 something per month. I also pay for Google Storage, like $2.99 a month or something along with Apple iCloud storage.
  17. Yup, I only have Prime Video now which is free with my Prime subscription. Otherwise, I'm not paying for any other streaming service.
  18. I was watching some of the early part of the game last night. What are your thoughts on their Motor City Connect Jerseys?
  19. Mariners rotation is probably the best in baseball. Definitely a waste. J-Rod has been awful this year, what's up with him? I liked the Arozarena addition at the deadline, but they could have done more maybe by adding another big bat. Turner wasn't going to change things or make a difference. As well, the AL West this year was wide open. Astros struggled heavily early on, Rangers have a World Series hangover, while the Angels and A's suck. Can't believe they couldn't take advantage of that.
  20. Spanky owns him in every league lol.
  21. I wish my Apple TV free trial was for 4 months instead of 3.
  22. Chicago Cubs always play at 2:20PM on Friday's at Wrigley. It's like a tradition haha.
  23. Yes and I said that lol. Detroit has a better set of young players and prospects locked up over the next 5 years. Blue Jays are an aging and expensive team. Not too difficult to comprehend. In terms of ownership spending, edge to the Blue Jays for sure, which I stated. A lot depends on what the Blue Jays do this offseason. If they re-sign Vladdy, definitely a better outlook over the next five years. If they let Vladdy walk and fail to sign anyone of his caliber, the next five years here look bleak given the weak farm system. In terms of long term sustainability, will be tough to spend their way building a perennial contender. Even if they re-sign Vladdy, this team needs a No 1/2 starter (which will cost over $100M easily if they try to sign Burner or Snell), another two bats (will cost money), and bullpen help. That doesn't even include a 3B as I'm assuming if they spend money on the above, it's more efficient to run with Clement at 3B to spend elsewhere. A lot of holes to patch up for 2025 if they want to return to being a contending team.
  24. LMAO If Riley Greene was on the Blue Jays, you would be buttering him up like no tomorrow!
  25. Yup, a lot depends on what guys like Max Clark and Jackson Jobe become. They need some of their top prospects to come up and make an impact over the next year or so, in order to add to their current MLB core of Greene, Skubal, Olson and Carpenter. If they don't pan out and flop, they're going to be stuck in limbo as a .500 team. As well, will be interesting to see what direction they take with Skubal: do they re-sign him to an extension, trade him or let him walk as a FA?
