  1. Well to sign any FA, you have to outbid other teams for them lol. I'm not suggesting the Jays just spend money foolishly and throw a blank cheque at any of those second tier guys. I could see Bregman getting around a 5 to 7 year deal max. Never even suggested him as an option since the Jays can likely roll with Clement at 3B or with Vladdy playing at 3B like 60-70% of the time. Alonso likely 5 years max IMO. Have no issue signing someone like Santander, Teo or Walker to 3 year deals similar to what Jorge Soler signed for last offseason. They won't be crippling long term. Also, other guys available who likely can sign 1 or 2 year deals like Joc Pederson, Jurickson Profar, Michael Conforto, Max Kepler, Tyler O'Neill, Jesse Winker, or Rhys Hoskins. Plenty of corner OF/1B/DH type bats available and I could see a lot of these guys settling for one-year deals.
  2. Even if the Jays get to 71-68 with a sweep of the Twins, they likely are 4 to 5 GB of WC3 which is a lot of ground to make up still up over the final month. They definitely have to sweep the Twins this weekend in order to make up ground on them. Season is on the line this week haha. They would have to at least win 16 or 17 of their final 23 regular season games in September after the Twins series which would get them to 87 or 88 wins.
  3. Santander, Walker or Alonso are nice pivots if the Jays fail to sign Juan Soto. If they're in on Soto this offseason and fail to sign him, should be no excuses on bringing other bats in since they're plenty 1B/corner OF bats available.
  4. Yeah I really think moving Vlad over to 3B next season as someone who can play 60%-70% of the time there would allow the Jays to add more pop to the lineup by targeting a 1B instead of a 3B through FA. Jays can afford doing that since they have Clement and Barger who could share time with him at the hot corner. When Vlad doesn't play 3B, he plays 1B or just DH's. As well, Vladdy benefits from a move to 3B since as a FA, he can market himself as a 3B which likely means a more lucrative contract.
  5. As a swing-man option, wouldn't be a bad option if his price is really cheap like under $4M or else the Jays likely have to use one of YRod or Francis as a swing-man in the pen if they add a mid-rotation starter. Can't afford to be dishing out $7-8M for someone like Stripling.
  6. Agree to an extent, but rotation depth will be important. The Jays can't afford to go into 2025 relying on an aging rotation of Gausman/Berrios/Bassitt and two unproven arms who are in their late 20's. We saw both Gausman and Berrios regress a bit this season, and they will be a year older next season. If the Jays lose one of them to an extended IL stint or if they continue to regress a bit more, could be in real trouble. This year the rotation has been really on thin ice. Hasn't been elite, but hasn't been awful. One injury or more regression to someone like Gausman/Berrios, could be really troubling. Ideally it would be better having only ONE of YRod or Francis as the No. 5 in the rotation come Opening Day 2025. I think there is a solid group of arms in the second tier like Nathan Eovaldi, Luis Severino, Nick Pivetta, Kikuchi etc. who can all probably be solid mid-rotation guys and who could sign short term deals at reasonable AAV.
  7. Robbie Grossman
  8. Yeah he's had a real nice season with the Pirates. Doesn't get talked about enough.
  9. Twins with the longest win streak this season at 12 games. If Jays won 12 in a row, they would sit at 71-68. Need an Oakland A's 2002 type of run to get within striking distance of WC3. Would be fun to see this current group pull off the impossible.
  10. Yeah I agree completely. If I were Vlad's agent, would be suggesting the same thing. Wait until Soto signs before agreeing to anything.
  11. Also own him in the DDL, so definitely want more starts from him like yesterday
  12. Unbelievable collapse.
  13. Only 4 really good starts Spanky. Angels lineup as well isn't that great to begin with. Just being a realist. He's definitely been fun to cheer and root for! He's making a case for a rotation spot next season, but lets see what he does against some tougher competition and can he string together another solid 5 to 6 starts to end the season. Ideally, if you can go into ST with him competing for the 5th spot with YRod, that's better! Means the Jays signed a solid mid-rotation starter and heading into 2025 will have some depth for injuries or anything unforeseen.
  14. Literally I and many others have patted ourselves on the back quite a bit this season due to victories over "Team Science" which speaks volumes to how out of touch with reality sometimes they really are. As well, some of their responses come across as very arrogant and pompous, so yeah gotta take these victories when they present themselves.
  15. Devers is a great comp. Red Sox gave Devers an 11 year, $331M contract extension back in 2023. $300-350M for Vladdy is quite fair in comparison with Devers, though like you said if Soto signs a monster deal worth around $600M, Vladdy might think he can be worth that. Ideally, would be best to lock Vladdy up to an extension similar to Devers before Soto signs a monster deal this offseason.
  16. Willson Contreras on IL with fractured middle finger.
  17. Mariners lost again today, even with Kirby on the mound lol.
  18. Yeah might never get that close of an opportunity again. Give Schneider credit for letting him go out there in the 9th.
  19. I thought Varsho was going to make a highlight reel catch haha.
  20. Hope they allow him to pitch in the 9th. Just got in and saw the news!
  21. Yeah Bo is really overrated in OBP leagues. Unless he hits .300+ every season so his OBP sits around .340 to .350, steals 20-25 bases and sticks at shortstop in the long term. I'm sure both Vlad and Bo were moved in non-Blue Jays fantasy leagues earlier this season. Definitely some managers would be regretting moving Vladdy right now.
  22. You should play some fantasy ball Brownie! Were you in any of the message board leagues before?
