  1. I think that we can call it a turnaround now. And Reyes is back to his date of June 27th. This thread was started on June 8th!!!! Psychic readings available all week-- LOL!
  2. Soccer fields? NFL uses a similar artificial turf that has longer blades and is more sand based. It is not the same. They are also very different sports. How many hamstring injuries occur in football? Not many. Most football knee injuries are also caused by impact as well. Even grass fields for baseball v football are harder. It's a different type of field.
  3. Me too.
  4. He's not old enough to join this team. I actually like this idea.
  5. Perhaps but at what cost and who?
  6. He showed some of this in 2010. It's a good sign for him to get back to it. He has 15 BB as well btw. I'm calling late bloomer on this one.
  7. I was more speaking to the extra base hits that have been going in since ST where he did bat over .400 and with several dozen at bats and not a token taste. I get the BABIP. I also get that this is a kid that had his development slowed by injuries and who was slap hitting when expected to drive balls. Well, he's healthy and driving balls. This is a player with pedigree who was a highly regarded prospect. He's not a scrub out of nowhere.
  8. As GM JPR approved the angry bird uniforms. A GM does more than just make player moves. He was not a good GM. His marketing and ad agency hires were horrible too.
  9. Look at what he's doing this year.
  10. Google the movie, "Powder" and compare the faces.
  11. As the 5th starter; we might be. And sure you can add Nolin's name but he's also a kid and Hutchison but he's a long shot. It is what it is. If Morrow is out long term, they have to go with what they've got now until Rogers gets shut down and then plug in Ricky, Happ or a hot kid.
  12. Lol. Lee isn't realistic though. And even with Morrow out and maybe for the season, Happ and the resurgent Romero and perhaps Stroman could help down the stretch. The rotation should be just fine as is until the end of July. By then Rogers' innings will be mounting and someone else will need to step in.
  13. I believe that in Florida you now have to have kids to get food stamps. You need to pass a drug test to get welfare. Unemployment is over 12% and in St. Pete's it's around 15%.
  14. Let them! DFA creates a 40-man roster spot. More than one team will put in a claim. Trade him! Heck add a minor leaguer and send them to Pittsburgh for de Jesus.
  15. Is there anyone left in St. Pete's with a job? How about cable? Not many!
  16. There seems to be so much buzz on Utley not only going to the Orioles but signing with them, it just seems fairly likely.
  17. Hate to be a killjoy but Utley has a limited no-trade contract and I will say with 100% certainty that Toronto is on the list named in the deal he signed 7 years ago. I would also say that considering his knees and his heading into free agency, he won't be waiving it to come play on Astro-Turf.
  18. I'd absolutely keep Kawasaki and send Perez down.
  19. In limited appearances EE has performed well at 3b. He hasn't even resembled his old wild throwing E5. I think that EE or DeRosa at third and Izturis always at second would have been a better choice and it's still a direction he can go in. I hear you though but it really is time to realize that Bonifacio is an outfielder.
  20. I'd say very good. I won't say great. I'm giving him an A-. I base that on his continually playing Bonifacio in the infield. It was even happening prior to Lawrie's second injury. It has to stop altogether. There comes a time to cut bait.
  21. Then they should just wait until he hits waivers.
  22. Just to add-- if 23 of 30 owners vote to take away the Giants rights to the territory, the A's can just move. A vote has not been called for because Athletics ownership don't think they have the votes. This voting process could work for the Rays in the future. There has to be a few owners out there who wouldn't mind seeing the spending power of the Yankees and Mets cut into. Sternberg might be able to get 23 votes. He'd have at least 1 from Oakland but lose 1 from San Francisco. He could probably also count on Toronto, Boston, Baltimore, Atlanta, Miami, Washington, and his own vote. Philly would be on the fence. That's 8 yes, 3 no, a big maybe and 18 question marks.
  23. But to answer your question, the A's got nothing. In 1990 San Jose was handed to the Giants in an agreement to create territorial rights. This was done because the Giants were looking at moving there and were desperate to get out of Candlestick. The A's owner at the time did what was best for baseball. He was also friends with the Giants owner. The entire deal was a kindness of heart and for the better of the game thing. In today's business world that is hard to imagine but that's how it went down. The Giants never moved to San Jose and this was never an issue until the A's wanted to relocate and the Giants said, "Hang on a minute here."
  24. The Oakland A's are also defendants in this suit. It is San Jose suing. Clearly the A's are hoping that MLB and the city cut a deal out of court though. This is the likely outcome and Sternberg and his Rays will still be screwed.
  25. What scouting department? Lol.
