And btw McGowan is using all of his pitches. Why? Because he'll need them once stretched out into a long man and he'll really need them if needed for a few starts later in the year. That's not me speculating. That's what they're saying.
Now he may never start but he is supposed to become the long man by the second half.
Bet they hit at least 35 before the season ends.
Schwimmer, Stroman, Luis Perez, Hutchison, Carreno, Drabek and trade acquisitions are all possible. Then throw in a surprise or two...
1. Would you like to see daily Around Baseball threads in an Around Baseball sub section?
2. Would you like to see the current Around Baseball topic as is?
3. Don't care
Clearly I like the idea of daily threads but I'd like opinions. I just find the thread to be too much if I've missed a couple of days. Being able to look them up like game day threads would be handy IMO. But that's just my opinion...
Around baseball as sub forum, with a daily around baseball topic is something I'd like. The current around baseball topic is hard to read if you miss a few days.
Today for example, I'd like to see, "June 26th, 2013" as the topic title under Around Baseball.
I have no problem with bunting for a hit. I don't like giving away outs unless its a late game tying or winning run situation. Even then, I'm not big on sacrificing a man to 2b. You still need a hit and have given away an out. Now if I have a leadoff double and that's the winning run, I'm all for bunting him to third.
That says so little for the Marlins. I was about to go look it up. Thanks for the leg work. Alright, just 9% and for whatever reason the exact situation jumped to mind because I saw it happen. Oh well.
It's warning track power disease. A guy like Boni comes from Miami which has an extreme pitcher's park and sees the hitter friendly dome and thinks, hmmmm I can go yard here. He then looks at the plastic grass and figures that he can't bunt on it. Then you get horrible results.
Gord Ash never had a good knowledge of his own system. That is a common comment that has been made by many baseball people over the years. And when one looks back and sees Ash dealing off Michael Young or releasing Casey Blake, along with other talent loss moves, one has to wonder.
Lets also remember that Toronto had Bob Engle, Tim Wilken and Chris Buckley scouting back then. Wilken and Buckley are now Scouting Directors in the Major Leagues.
If DeRosa starts every single game until Lawrie returns, I have no problem with your statement. The moment Bonifacio plays one inning in the infield, I have a problem.
Kawasaki is far from great but he is a positive influence in the dugout, can work a count and can actually bunt a baseball. Bonifacio can't play the infield at all, has a low baseball IQ, is a weak hitter and happens to be a gifted athlete who is younger and runs like the wind. For me it's as simple as that and I take the baseball player everyday. I actually do anything to ensure that Bonifacio never ever plays 2b for Toronto again.
MLB either recommended or mandated that free baseballs are given out as fans exit during such promos. This is recent so in not sure which but I know that a few teams have handed out vouchers to the first 15 or 20 thousand fans or whatever and as they leave they exchange the voucher for the baseball.
