  1. Add Darwin Barney to the list of available players. The Cubs will trade anyone at this point apparently.
  2. No shocker. With the Cubs, White Sox and Marlins trying to sell early to get more value, shoppers can't wait for Christmas Eve.
  3. Announced? No. It's a second TJ surgery. That's what everyone does during the first year back. Ok, it's like 97%.
  4. The reality is we need more starters. How long can the hot bull pen hold down the fort? It really is ranked 25th in MLB if you use FIP. Traditional stats say 4th best. Hmmm...
  5. Drabek will strictly be relieving during his first year back from his second Tommy John Surgery. Hutchison will be lucky to make it back by September. They aren't options.
  6. I'd take Schierholtz over them both and he's available.
  7. Go get Peavy or Garza please.
  8. Right now the options are Romero, Jenkins and Nolin and maybe in a few weeks you can add McGowan's name if he stretches out into a long man as hoped.
  9. Lets be honest here. What's more likely? We get a starter off the DL by late July or a current one gets injured before then? We won't have Morrow or Happ back by then. Romero is looking like the next option and he isn't even on the 40-man roster.
  10. I imagine that they'll move him to the 60-day DL once they are sure that he won't be back in July. There's no rush and if they jump the gun and the swelling goes right down and he feels great, they wasted a few weeks of using him. Hope springs eternal right?
  11. Gotta say I do shake my head at Blue Jays media releases sometimes. Love how they call this forearm inflamation. Morrow has tendinitis in his forearm and he is diabetic. The reality is that after he tries throwing the likely outcome is his arm being immobilized for 3-4 weeks and then he'd have to start from scratch on a strengthening program before rehab. This is why I think that he might be done for the year.
  12. Last I heard was that he's going to play catch sometime between Sunday and Wednesday and they'll re-evaluate then. It's not looking good from what I'm hearing though. At earliest he'd be 2 weeks from throwing off a mound (if he's progressing) and then a trip to Florida to work with Rick Langford and then rehab (again, if all is going well) and then back. I'd say August 1st at the earliest, late August more likely and out for the season a possibility.
  13. And I even quoted that number the other day. Silly me. I glanced at his Cleveland numbers when I just posted that. Even so, 120 is about as high as he can go and that's probably 20 innings generous.
  14. And Pete Walker was on the radio just a few days ago expressing concerns that Rogers will hit a dead arm stage soon and said that they are watching him closely. The team needs another starter.
  15. Again, Rogers won't be starting for long. His arm can't take it. He has already surpassed his innings total for all of last season and he pitched Winter Ball too. At most, the very most he'll hit 120 innings this year. That would mean his season will end with 2 months to go.
  16. Now if AA really really wants to go all-in and has some trade magic remaining, Jake Peavy is available! He's tried to obtain him before and was close. He might just try again! * It looks like he'll be back before the end of July btw. He is playing catch.
  17. Happ isn't close and Morrow might be out for the season and Rogers really only has about 60 innings remaining in his season. AA almost has to add a starter. Garza, Feldman or Norris would be helpful.
  18. Seattle is flying it at city hall too btw.
  19. A flag has much deeper meaning to older generations in North America. They still seem to carry extra meaning in other parts of the world. Perhaps having wars on your soil causes that.
  20. Man I was just trying to make a point. I used an obvious extreme example. I chose Anaheim because its not just a largly Jewish part of California but generally pro Israel.
  21. I think that the Phillies have an inexplicable hard on for Bonifacio and that he would be important in a trade being that Philadelphia is likely going to lose both Utley and Young.
  22. Lincoln looked very good in his last 2 appearances prior to being sent back to Buffalo. In fact he was filthy during that 18 inning win. He was the number's game victim because the pen was gassed and his arm was the most tired.
  23. It's not even half a season and Melky has been hobbled. Fair?
  24. He's not looking to get a prospect. He's looking for veteran players.
  25. Don't know what that has to do with this thread but he had to mean Cobb and Hornsby. Though Speaker was very good at guiding the ball too. Cobb was perhaps the worst defensive outfielder in the history of the game btw. He does have the worst fielding percentage but along with that he often misjudged the ball and had a noodle arm. If he played today he would be a DH.
