    I'm starting to think this way: Nimmo plays CF this year and eventually moves to LF, Springer in RF and then some up and comer in CF. Could be a long term plan.

    let me guess: you're so impressed with the winter meeting results that you're still shaking your head (like I am).

    Funny how this just released right after a complete washout Winter Meetings. That being said, I hope it's for real.

    From everything that I've read, this sounds pretty accurate... I don't think we're doing much. Go big or go home. So we go home.

    It makes sense for him but I'm sure part of his negotiations will be on where he appears in the batting order (or who's in front and who's behind him). The contracts are all one year and money can't be the issue. The ability to bounce back is the only real value.

    Just a thought: but is it possible that a CF for a bad team can have his defensive statistics be more in flux due to the inconsistent play in front of him? In other words if a CF has a pitching staff that can execute as planned then his jumps and such would be better? And if so, could this be the case here?

    to dump Metz maybe? Bad lefty contract for a bad lefty contract.

    maybe throw Kikuchi in with Jansen and Cimber for Metz and Nootbaar. then sign one of Heaney or Stripling and a lefty bat to play lf-dh. Balances the lineup and rotation.

    I got the feeling the likelihood of Nootbaar's future was not necessarily as good as Janssen's. Either way, I'd still do the trade.

    I think I might as well. Not as sure about giving up Cimber as well, kind of expected we'd receive something with Nootbaar.

    I remember him as a Yankee 1b and thinking how great he'd be in Toronto. There was rumour of a trade but I doubt it was serious.

    I'm not too big on retiring numbers (as long as a team has a reason for doing it), but when the Jays gave #1 to Shun Yamaguchi I thought it was nothing but disrespect.

    Even just the thought or rumour of Bellinger > reality of Zimmer. But yeah.

    But is it maybe best to go one year (or two years max) with Bellinger and then get a real candidate? Maybe there's someone better coming along next year??

    I'm even happy with the average of 2019 and recent years.

    Having Bellinger feels like Colby Rasmus v2.0. Not a bad get and the overall defence improves. If 2 years is the deal, it's not that bad.

    Agent Scott Boras tells Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic that he’s already received multi-year offers for Bellinger — presumably from teams hoping for the chance to secure a player with star potential at what would be a bargain annual value if they’re successfully able to rehabilitate him. However, pointing to Bellinger’s age (27), Boras suggested that he and Bellinger “most likely… don’t want a multi-year [contract].” MLB.com’s Jon Morosi tweets that the Blue Jays are among the teams to have expressed early interest in Bellinger, adding that they held some trade discussions surrounding Bellinger prior to his non-tender. There’s good sense to pursuing only contracts that would allow Bellinger to return to the market a year from now. He won’t turn 28 years old until around the 2023 All-Star break, making him the youngest free agent of note this offseason.

    How does it work exactly: Capra comes up, added to the 40 man roster, then when Biggio comes back, he goes back to AAA and off the 40 with no waivers/outrighting needed?

    Molina was a 2-pitch pitcher, one of which was a changeup if I remember correctly. Remember talking to one of the forums about him maybe becoming useful as a short inning reliever that he didn't have enough to start.
