  1. This is what we needed to do.
  2. I hope you're right, but I just don't see 140 games of CF.
  3. I'm afraid Springer is aged, not ageing. He may be past full time outfield duty. Memories of Paul Molitor when we had him.
  4. I don't know if we need much of a bat, but if he could play a decent cf and maybe some 2b it would be awesome. I don't like having just one backup infielder
  5. My guess is probably the same as yours, that he's okay for a pinch. I think we might need to plan for about 50 games worth of CF time though. Not sure he's good enough for that. I also figure somebody should come in on the late innings on a regular basis.
  6. I think this might be the highest risk on the team right now. Every position has a reasonable backup for an inning or two and some for a 10-day dl stint. Except CF and Springer's record is not the best. I watched Mallex Smith and his outfield reads don't seem adequate. Palacios is not a CF and usually played rf in the minors. I'd like to see how our new guy would fair in CF for a few games.
  7. Is there an infielder who could also play cf available to pick up? I think we really need one as the last man on the bench.
  8. Oh and I hate watching Katoh at bat. His swing is horrible.
  9. I thought Orelvis might get a bit more time. Every time I looked at a game, there he was. He's my guess for the next break through star with Moreno. I expected more Hatch but he seems to have been hurt. and needs stretching out. He'll probably be one of the first call ups.
  10. Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker arrested on DUI charges Mark Polishuk, MLB Trade Rumors 59 mins ago Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker was arrested Friday morning on charges of speeding and driving under the influence, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. (WFLA’s Nathaniel Rodriguez broke the news.) Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling adds that Walker was released on a $500 bond later that morning, and that he will make a statement to media following the Jays’ game with the Yankees this afternoon.
  11. Looks more like a road trip lineup. Oh well, maybe on the Sunday televised game there will be a real lineup. Don't want to tune in to the scrubs.
  12. I was almost expecting to keep reading and find out that the monkeys made the roster after leading the team in strikeouts and were candidates for Baltimore player of the year award.
  13. Thanks for the lineup, obviously a road game.
  14. I'd be good with that. If Kirk DH's about 50-70 games and catches about the same then he would be fine. The rest of the DH time could be had by a few so bringing back Dickerson on a small deal may make some sense.
  15. I guess like everybody I think we slightly overpaid with Hoglund but I think we can survive. Snead was probably going to have to come off the roster, so at least his coming off the roster provides some value. Smith would have been the second backup infielder, so no big loss. Logue I kind of anticipated going in this type of trade. So next steps: pick a backup backup infielder, figure out what to do with the dh slot and maybe backup outfielder. That should be the offense. In terms of the bullpen, maybe another high leverage arm.
  16. As much as I'd like to see him be able to free up 1b, this just looks like a ground ball exercise that any infielder would get.
  17. I've had something like this, you don't put things like this off. I had surgery within 2 weeks of the break (and that was in Canada). They have to do it relatively quickly or you come out looking like Quasimodo. It was also one of those 3 month specials.
  18. It actually just got announced at 3:53, half hour after I first posted. But they updated the roster beforehand.
  19. Hudgens out, Schneider now bench coach (which he seemed to be last year anyway), Adam Yudelman, major league coach David Howell, pitching strategist and Hunter Mense as assistant hitting coach
  20. When did the coaching staff change?
  21. We're at 40 now after the Vasquez (I still don't believe this one) and Kikuchi signings. Anything further and we have to drop a player. Assuming no trades. I have Palacios and Thornton in the top two spots to go.
  22. I think with the last two signings we're at 40 on the roster. So who do we start dropping now?
  23. My Rushmore would be a bit different: Stieb, Clancy, Halladay and Henke. Clancy was a moose for so many years and he and Stieb led us out of the basement. Henke was the first guy to make this a 9 inning game. Before him it was 8 innings of good starting and then we got beat. No explanation needed for Halladay. Trashmore would be: Sirotka, Hamilton, Hanson and Lemanczyk.
  24. I remember when he was finishing school that we should try to get him, then I thought about Pompey concussions. Oh well.
  25. Isn't this the younger brother of former Jay Dalton Pompey?
