  1. On a different note: anyone know what happened to Gregory Polanco - he was with Buffalo and doing okay. I was kind of hoping he might turn into something here.
  2. I agree it is generally one of the best but it is not the Hall of the Best of the Best. It's the Hall of the Best of the Best who were politically woke and didn't get accused of doing anything dodgy. Any player who was the best during his time on the field should be included. If a guy was on roids, then he should have been out of the game. Not for HOF voters to judge.
  3. The Hall of Fame is not meant for the best players, just the more famous. I still think Pete Rose belongs in the Hall as a player (not as a manager). It's like the All Star game. It's not the best of the best, it's the popular. Sometimes they are the best, but not necessarily.
  4. Perhaps to both. In the Suzuki case, you get 5 years and improved outfield defense. DH could be split between Gurriel, Vladdy and an outfielder. Espinal becomes some kind of supersub. Maybe that's too much for Espinal.
  5. Perhaps some kind of sharing 3b with Espinal.
  6. Or perhaps a move to 3b.
  7. Though dollars are close enough, JBJ is effectively a one year contract, Grichuk 2. I would totally have done that trade.
  8. Damn, there goes another good word. Spooky to me will always be more Halloween
  9. I'm older and suburban so I don't know what the problem with "spooky" is. I think Sigmund Freud used the term but that was according to MASH.
  10. This sounds like a good plan. Along with a focus on defence should be some concentration on balancing the lineup a bit.
  11. That’s what it seems. For that money I think I would rather have kept Semien and then trade for a lefty bat in the outfield.
  12. Supposedly he’s asking for 180 million so that would be some aav
  13. I thought I read somewhere that the problem with him and Atlanta is a 6th year. So I don't think 4 will do it.
  14. We're badly in need of some lefty bats, but that would be a WOW.
  15. Didn't he have a no-trade to Toronto before? We did draft him as well and that didn't go through. Makes me think he could be using Toronto to drive up a price. Either that or the writers are making it up.
  16. Gonna love to see the fairness opinion that would have to be done for such a sale.
  17. How about Cabrera or Sanchez and Kirk at the center of a trade. Gurriel could go as well.
  18. I think Barfield was explaining why he was no longer an alumni ambassador.
  19. True I agree the player has to buy in and I totally agree that Walker has had more successes than failures. Roark’s condition may have been bad (which makes me wonder why we signed him anyway) but then I remember Fernando Valenzuela. I still think if I’m a pitcher trying to rebuild after a bad season or two then I don’t go to the AL East. If I’m a batter then I definitely consider it.
  20. It kind of says in the tweet. He coached Teoscar and Vladdy over the past two years and Gurriel over the last because they were drowning. He obviously didn’t do it under official channels. Our hitting coach seems invisible.
  21. I just don’t think we are a top choice place to pitch. While Ray may have turned it around here, you don’t hear any sense of gratitude. I would think that might be heard by a few around the league. Also while Ray excelled, there were Brad Hand, Tanner Roark and others. Pete Walker may be a good coach but I don’t know if he changes free agents decisions.
  22. If you were a pitcher would you take a pillow contract from Toronto to face some of the biggest opposition while pitching half your games at the Dome? Don’t think we’re the first choice for that. If you were a bat you might do it but not a pitcher.
  23. The Jays played Upshaw at 1b and McGriff some at DH. Upshaw should have been gone with the other two playing full time. Fielder could throw and catch, just no range. I don’t think Fielder learned much in Japan (he could have learned it here) just that he got regular playing time there. When I look at Kirk I’m afraid I see a guy rotting on the bench.
  24. Okay I see. I saw Martinez play 3b years ago. He was not athletic. I’m still thinking Kirk will end up as a DH because of his lack of mobility but I hadn’t heard of Moreno in that context.
  25. I get the Kirk Martinez comparison but don’t see Moreno Martinez.
