  1. Of course that was slight hyperbole, but AA does get tunnel vision and overpays when trying to acquire guys he covets. The Happ deal and pretty much every trade he's done since then is evidence of that.
  2. Yeah but that could be AA code for signing Cano....
  3. Probably Anderson, who AA will give up Stroman++ for or something ridiculous.
  4. And feel free to merge this with Ang's thread in the prospect subsection that I somehow missed....
  5. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2014-top-10-prospects-toronto-blue-jays/ Also, some Steamer projections and Q&A with Andy Burns http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/qa-andy-burns-toronto-blue-jays-infield-prospect/ http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/steamer-projects-toronto-blue-jays-prospects/ Nay at #3 is a bit surprising but nice to see he's getting some props
  6. Well sure, but taking on a 10 million dollar reliever is completely contrary to everything that Beane has ever really done. There's no need to take n that kind of deal of all you want to do is get rid of Weeks
  7. Salary dump for the O's to try and free up space to try and get Cano? I love the offseason...
  8. Looks like a lot of talking heads are loving this deal for the Nats
  9. Should have traded Scherzer. He'd command a much bigger return since. Hardly think 1 more year of control with Fister would offset the difference in the skill level between the two.
  10. I declare this thread to be the winner based on the opening post containing a tweet. And it was first.

Flames would probably give up Cammalleri for Gardiner. I don't know enough about the leafs to know if he would be a fit, but he's an expiring contract so even if the trade went bad he wouldn't be a cap sinkhole. Flames could really use a d-man right now too with both Wideman and giordano out with injuries I don't know why they want to trade Gardiner though, seems to me he would be a better option than Paul Ranger.
  12. Why today? Did they just now see the news that they won?

This kid is going to be a beast. Check out the release on this goal from last night http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=451539
  15. Punting draft picks is for signing elite talent, not average or slightly tiny-bit above average players like Drew.
  16. With the QO driving his price down, monetarily he would probably provide decent value. No way I'd punt a second round pick to get him though.
  17. All do that is true, the problem is the Brier is what, 10 days long? Tournament of hearts another 10....a few shoutouts here and there and you 30 ish days of programming in a 365 day calendar. As good as those small events are, they can't carry a network
  18. It's weird. TSN, which is owned by ESPN, which is owned by Disney, should certainly not have been outbid for the NHL deal when it's the holy grail of sports broadcasting in Canada. They're basically left with the CfL, which only works for 2 or 3 nights a week for 5 months a year, and regional rights for some Leafs and Jets games, neither of which is going to sustain the network. Losing the NHL is a huge blow. They also don't have the Olympics anymore. Were I the brass at TSN I'd be gearing up to put a huge bid on the Jays rights next time they came up as a big FU to Rogers(maybe not even to win, but to at least cost Rogers more money) start thinking of ways to get the Raptors and build them up like they did the CFL, which they really did do a great job with. Without the NHl, they're on the way to irrelevance for a huge chunk of the year
  19. Now that's signature material right there.
  20. To think the Jays might not be impacted is a bit short sighted. When SN already has commitments to the Jays and to major junior hockey on their regional networks, the spring when the chl playoffs, memorial cup, nhl playoffs and Jays are in full swing all at the same time, one of those properties is bound to get bumped to a channel that might not be as widely available. I also wonder how much more Rogers is going to start charging for their sports packages with all this new, live programming, which of course will be picked up for by the consumer.
  21. Doesn't mean every case needs it, I've had it, no problems with a little physical therapy and stretches. Of course pitching with the problem would obviously be next to impossible even with a mild case, but surgery doesn't always have to be a default option if the case isn't severe enough.
  22. Cubital tunnel issues rarely require surgery to fix. They're really not that big of a deal. It's nowhere near the level of needing TJ Surgery.
  23. I was on the right coast but after San Fran picked up Hudson, I knew it wasn't going to happen for Haren.
  24. How's that? He pitched in the bigs in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, has spent at least 20 days in the minors in 2010, 2011 and 2013 , 2012 wiped out from his surgery.
  25. I know relievers really aren't that valuable, but there are teams out there that do overvalue them highly, so there really would be no reason to offer Janssen for Hanigan, the perceived worth of a closer to the rest of mlb is greater than that of a catcher that a team I clearly has no place for and is actively trying to move.
