  1. Seems to make perfect sense to me. The team with the best combined record between the three teams chooses what they want, the team with the second best record chooses what they want and the team with the third best record doesn't get a choice and only 1 chance to advance. What would be an alternative? Round robin style and runs for and against used to determine any tie breakers?
  2. More sounds like people think AA should be listening to fans wants and making decisions based on them. The reality is if a GM listens to fans, he becomes a fan. This isn't excusing or defending AA's bad decisions or the organization's poor talent evaluation, but let's face it, the majority of fans really have no idea how s***** JPA is. Sure they see a low batting average and realize he's not perfect, but 20 HR excuses a lot for the masses. The vocal minority is just that, a minority.
  3. That last part is about the only thing in this thread that made any sense. There was a article written on fangraphs the other day stating how the A's are succeeding again these past few years. Basically it boiled down to them not having a lot of overall strengths, but rather that they have a collection of players without any glaring weaknesses.
  4. Do you honestly think that AA gives one flying s*** about what any fan thinks and made any personnel decisions based on it? If you do, you're as delusional as JPA about his productivity
  5. #getoffmylawn!...damnkids
  6. Guaranteed JPA wouldn't kand a blow #swingandamiss
  7. Isn't it Mario Mendoza? C'mon man let's not sink the credibility of this thing by making basic errors.
  8. Get him a good platoon partner with some semblance of defensive usefulness and you'd have something pretty good.
  9. 99 and painting the corners, that's nasty with a side of filthy and topped with holy s***.
  10. Of course. Just a wacky stadium all around. Severely pitcher friendly to LH pull hitters, severely hitter friendly to RH pull hitters
  11. 330 wall scraper that would be just a routine fly out in Fenway. It's a good thing park factors exist to tell us that A season of those fly balls in Boston would be less valuable than those in Toronto or Yankee stadium.
  12. Triple shy of the cycle for Gose! Really hope he gets another AB to go for it
  13. Not at all but it would be nice if that optimism was based on something other than an argument that pretty much boils down to " well I haven't seen him fail yet, so he obviously has a a real chance at being good"
  14. After reading the article and finding out that JPA refused a cortisone s*** or his knee and has been playing hurt all year yet somehow thinking he deserves credit for doing so, I've come to the conclusion that he is bordering on delusional. Athletes and sports people in general really need to get away from the mentality that playing hurt and performing terribly is something that should be seen as a positive. Who cares of you're playing hurt, you're f***ing up the team with your hero attitude. This belief that playing hurt is somehow putting the team first is ********, people play hurt because they want to be seen as "heroic" and pass it off as being a team guy, when in reality it's the ultimate selfish act. If you really wanted to help the team when you're hurt to the point that you should be on the DL as part of your treatment, you would go on the f***ing DL so that someone who isn't hitting and catching like Helen Keller can come in and actually help the team, rather than putting up practically the worst season in the history of the entire game.
  15. Moreno is very hands on in LA for the Angels, though I'm not sure it approaches this alleged degree of tyranny in Miami
  16. And Tabata singles to break up the no hitter in the 7th.
  17. Still with a no hitter through 6
  18. I dunno, compared to the threads where he's actually trying to make legitimate points, this one is arguably more informative
  19. Scrub = replacement level AAA depth.
  20. It's different if the Jays were at ground zero of a rebuild like Houston. They can give 500+ PA to a 25 year old defense first guy to see if he'll amount to anything with the bat when they know they're only going to win 50ish games in a season. The Jays, who are supposedly in the middle of a contention push, cannot afford to give 500+ PAs on that kind of player.
  21. Pedro Alvarez inside the park HR - looks like a fan interfered on reply but maybe it was over the wall, maybe it wasn't. http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=30573295
  22. That's some piss poor defense from Sierra... Guy can't take a good route on a fly ball to save his life
  23. I knew you couldn't resist.
  24. Discuss.
