  1. I agree, but ownership as a whole would never agree to a floor without a cap. The low budget teams ownership would never accept having to increase their payrolls guaranteed without seeing guarantees that big spending teams have a hard limit.
  2. I would be shocked beyond belief if a salary floor happened without a hard cap. The two have always gone hand in hand.
  3. The one and only player interview we got on our old Breaking Blue podcast. Legend
  4. Yonge and Bloor? Just name the time ya bike
  5. As is tradition around here, out with old 2025 thread and in with new 2026 version. Lets run it to the World Series again this year boys!
  6. 2 year minor league deal, same as that other dude they just picked up, Enright. Same reason too as Wincky just had internal brace surgery so will be out all of 2026
  7. No risk signing, probably doesnt move the needle much either way in 2027 but, why not? 54 degree arm angle one of the steeper ones in mlb
  8. I hated Fenway with a passion. The park itself just kinda sux to watch a game in, unless youre really into the history of the park itself. s***** wrought iron seats that arent even turned towards the action properly, massive pillars the block views, the stench of urine was real..... I concede watching a game from the monster seats would probably be way better. What saved it for me was the absolute 10/10 experience outside the park before and after the game. The neighborhood and all the places to eat and drink around the park were phenomenal. I've been to Oracle as well, though it was AT&T park way back when I was there. It was kinda the opposite of Fenway. Extremely excellent in-game experience, incredible views all around the park, but nowhere near the same level of excellence outside the park. It was good mind you, but not close to Yawkey Way
  9. I think that's why it gets the hype. Most fans don't give two rats assess about creature comforts for corporate *******s. They want a nice field, comfy seats, a great view and a decent team to root for. Looking at it through the lens of corporate-types though, yeah it's probably starting to lag behind in the average to below average # of suites, luxury boxes etc.
  10. I think Horwitz was their only hitter above 100 wrc+ last year if im not mistaken, with his 119. edit Oh and Joey Bart i guess at 101.
  11. I'd be okay with some kind of creative extension like they had with a manager a while back. To make it work, they have to sign him to a 1 year team option contract for 2027 as an extension now. Then, each year he has an automatic team option tacked on for X dollars or X buyout, so the first one would be for 2028. The catch is, the team option has to be accepted for 2028 at the end of 2026, not the end of 2027. Its riskier for the Jays because they get 1 extra year of suckage built in to the end, but it pretty much guarantees Springer stays as long as the Jays want him to and if he ages like Papi did, they get their DH for the foreseeable future without issue. Springer, if hes truly taken by the city and playing for the Jays, gets a good deal for him too with minimum 2 year certainty at the end of every season.
  12. Some by a Bugatti, other's buy baseball players. Why not?
  13. Yep. Monday the 22nd is the closing date
  14. Nah, these are guys they picked up to flip at the deadline if they're performing well individually while the team stinks. If they aren't performing well... its 6 million and they're gone anyways. This is a team that currently has Alek Manoah as their #5
  15. In that situation Bastardo would be looking in from Boston since he'd have to be returned if he isnt on the roster. Great problem to have though
  16. I tend to agree. But, there's something to be said for having a top tier closer vs some guy you just decided to try there when the team in expecting to be in the thick of the WS race. I'm also okay with the backend of the pen being a trade-deadline fix rather than a pre-season FA signing fix now that Diaz is off the board.
  17. LOL This is a ridiculous ask - but really well written to convince mouth breathers that billionaires are poor and dont make money. "The days of owning and operating an MLB team for profit or as a business - is over" Really? LMAO
  18. Orioles LF fence is being moved in to where it was 10 years ago as we speak im sure.
  19. Lets see... Spencer Horwitz was Spooner, miles straw is Kilometers Straw... I herby annoint him Spooner Kilometers.
  20. Didn't half this board see this possibility halfway through last season as something they should do in the offseason? Honestly, big league boardroom experience and baseball industry respect aside, I feel like we could mostly competently run a big league org. Spanky for hitting coach.
  21. Is vlad playing for Canada though? Doesn't he usually play for the DR?
  22. Its actually good to see the Os spending money, and spending big money.
  23. Its not the actual dollar flexibility they care about, the Dodgers could spend 600 million on payroll and still he fine, it was the reduction in CBT hit from 70m to whatever it ended up being. The specific amount of dollar savings was always a minor issue at best
