    It was exactly that. Ball was so high it went over the ring and he lost it. Second ball he said he thought Giminez was going to get it ... so 2nd one is pure stupidity and lack of baseball IQ. 1st one ... that happens in that garbage stadium.

    I doubt it, injuries killed his career, not pressure.

    I think he'll be qualified simply because its probably the last year teams will be able to do it. He will certainly want to test FA and try to squeeze every cent he can out of some team somewhere. Alot depends on how lengthy the lockout will be

    Oh we've raked Gimenez over the coals in other threads enough. I think we've all.just become numb to the Gimenez situation and just take it for what it is; a situation that isnt going to change so at least bat him 9th where his crap bat won't hurt too much. That's creating the problem with Bateman and some other guys... there's really only room one of those guys (maybe 2) on any team and we have like 8 of them (slight exaggeration for effect). They can't all hit 9th.

    That tracks with his savant page. Hes like Clement in that he can contact virtually everything but doesn't have that strike zone awareness, but Clement still has the ability to actually pull the ball in the air occasionally for power. Bateman is like... wait wait wait slash it the other way or up the middle. It's not the worst approach for a guy with his toolset, but its not the kind that plays very well everyday in the lineup even with elite defense and baserunning. If he learned to drop a few deadly bunts down the 3b line or drag bunt agianst lefties like Varsho that would help open up the IF to slash more singles through in the short term while they get to hit the weights room and try to add some muscle mass.

    I was in that boat too. I figured 1 of 3 at the trop and 2 of 3 in Yankee Stadium was the best case scenario. Now, as long as they win 1 in the Bronx they still go 3-3 at worst. Nice spot to be in. But.... f*** the Yankees, take the series there too! Vlad comes back and hits 5 HRs now that he's had some sense knocked into his cement head and the screw that was loose has been tightened.

    I give him a bit of a pass on the Caminero fly early on as it appears to have gone OVER the ring up there (i was watching the Rays cast) and very easy to lose it and just never pick it up again. The next one though.... that's just inexcusable to have that bad of a read that you're going a different direction than the ball and it drops in front of you. Horrendous doesn't even begin to describe it.

    One can hope. right now he's basically a left handed Myles Straw-lite, if that's even possible.

    Parker 3-4 with 2 doubles in last night's game. OPS in High A up to .952... SSS still at High A but ya can't hate that he hasn't slowed down at all. Should be due for his 1st High A HR in the next game or so.

    i drove through there a few years ago in spring training. Nightmare doesn't even begin to describe it and I was doing it at 11am on a boring Wednesday, not before or after a ball game. It's truly horrendous.

    Looks like he's switched up to the new "in thing" with pitchers in featuring the 3 fastballs (4seam, sinker, cutter) at relatively the same rate with 1 breaker and an offspeed to for good measure. Feels like he may be getting just a weeeee bit fortunate based on his savant page, but... hey cant begrudge a guy for evolving and making his way back to the bigs.

    Kinda have to you'd think, even though Keys can't hit breaking balls to save his life. 75% whiff rate on curve balls in his looks so far. Running Springer out there when he's hurt won't be any better.
