  1. He got through 7 with the no-no intact, 11K, 1 BB, 99 pitches. Pen wasnt able to keep the no hitter but they still won 1-0. Skenes results are exactly why pitchers chase velo. Because it's just way f***ing harder to hit, than non-velo.
  2. The Terrence Howard of the board.
  3. More than 1 poster from this board went on to work for the Jays, and other teams nerd departments. They have confirmed what I said. Publically available stuff is behind what teams have internally. Doesn't mean the publically available stuff is meaningless and not used, just that it's not as detailed and nuanced. Internally they look at things in different ways also.
  4. There's pretty much a few types of guys the Jays have right now given their record and situation... the "must move" guys like ... any pending FA that's healthy. Then there's the "could move to shed money and might actually get something useful but not upper tier back" ... like Bassitt, Gausman, Green Then there's the "probably should try to move because it looks like they aren't signing any extension, but there's no real urgency to do it right now because they'd be selling low and can look at it again in the offseason" ..... Bo Then there's the rest of them.... that are either virtually untradeable (Springer - due to contract, Vlad due to no way anyone pays the Jays asking price) or may as well keep since they have to field a team next year and need at least some competency somewhere... Varsho, Kirk, Genesis, Pearson, any Pre-Arb guys, Yariel etc.
  5. Wasn't there a story from the Jays about Matt Hague working with Clement on the steepness of his attack angle? It seemed to pay dividends early on and he hit a few dingers but now teams just don't throw him fastballs and it doesn't matter much again for him. Not that the angle isn't important, just that it's only 1 factor.
  6. If it was easy to "fix" there'd be a lot of really good hitters in the major leagues.
  7. Whatever we have that is publicly available, Stuff + and bat tracking etc... teams have stuff that's way more in depth.
  8. It's delusional to think the team can make a run at the WC at this point so trading guys like Kikuchi, Yimi, Richards etc just makes sense. I'm not sold on trading a guy like Bo unless someone pays full sticker price, but if that deal comes along...then hell yes. I wouldn't trade Vlad though unless someone overpays. He's too valuable for off-field reasons, and the hope of him eventually pulling his head out of his ass and returning to even a 35+ HR threat is real enough to keep him around. I cant fathom a Springer deal being possible for obvious reasons, but Gausman and Bassit are moveable.
  9. How many hitters before Pop gives up the lead?
  10. Varsho has to be better than that...was never close to being a strike
  11. Pearson almost back in the circle of trust?
  12. And waste this thread space with fantasy stuff when there's other threads for it.
  13. Short season ball ended in 2020.
  14. Part of it is probably weaker teams faced on the road overall. Games on the road for Gausman are Yankees, Tampa, KC, Washington, Detroit, White Sox, Athletics and Boston. At home, Yankees x2, Dodgers, Tampa, Minnesota, Cleveland, Baltimore, Boston, Colorado. He's been nuked at home 4 times...Colorado, Yanks, Minnesota and Baltimore 17.1 IP with 25 ER given up. The other 5 home starts, 29 IP, 12 ER.
  15. You're right, but ...it depends what the hitters goal is. There's a reason Arraez is a great contact hutter but is still barely tracking for a 2 war season. He has the slowest average bat speed in the majors last time I checked. He does literally no damage, practically ever. Can't have his bat control and contact ability if you're swinging at 80 mph vs his laughably slow 62.9.
  16. Yes, basically his two hottest zones are middle down and middle middle. Anything inner third from top to bottom is a barren wasteland, anything outer third from the middle to up is a barren wasteland. Lower and outer is ... not quite a wasteland but it's not great either. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/daulton-varsho-662139?stats=statcast-r-zones-mlb
  17. Leaffie isn't a man, but i agree with the gist of your post.
  18. Strike 1. Gonna have to dig in for the rest of your PA and battle.
  19. If that's what you got from my post, then you didn't really understand it.
  20. I think Varsho's biggest issue is that he can't hit anything on the inner half... or up. He's basically too easy to pitch to in todays game. He's 0-2 in virtually every PA because pitchers can just lob whatever they want to 75% of the strike zone.
