  1. We get lucky in this series missing Imanaga and facing two of their weaker starters, but we aren't so lucky in the next series where we get screwed and face both DeGrom and Eovaldi. We really need to jump on Brown and Horton. Also looks like Skenes and Keller to open the Pirates series.
  2. Ohtani being sued for shady business practices in a Hawaii real estate debacle. I suppose if found guilty, we can expect that his agent will be fired and he will claim to have no knowledge of the situation. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/dodgers-star-shohei-ohtani-and-agent-accused-of-sabotaging-240m-hawaii-real-estate-project/
  3. Watching Fluharty strike out that piece of human garbage was definitely one of the most thrilling moments of the season. It has all of the elements you want. An important game, an unsung hero leading the good guys to victory, and a universally hated villain getting what he deserves.
  4. Brown is a difficult pitcher to evaluate. The underlying stats are great, but the ERA is over 6. Hopefully we crush him.
  5. Jays, Astros, Yankees, and Tigers will be the ALDS teams in my opinion.
  6. Did they make the right adds? Naylor has been great, but Suarez is hitting .105 and striking out every other at-bat. He looks like his old self again from what I have seen. The Mariners issues coming into the deadline, in my view, were defense and relief pitching. They were already bottom 5 in defense before adding Suarez, giving them the worst left side of the infield we have seen in quite some time. Naylor is average defensively so I don't see a big change there. Their bullpen is also bottom 5 and exactly replacement level of you exclude Munoz, but all they added was a depth lefty. Perhaps they get away with that for a series, but one bad start and their AAAA guys are going to get exposed. Orgfiller also correctly pointed out that the rotation can be a bit overrated at times. I understand that this doesn't tell the whole story, but they aren't even top 10 in starter WAR, let alone some unbeatable juggernaut. I see a fringe playoff team with a lot of flaws being carried by an incredible season from Raleigh.
  7. I feel the same way about Carter, who is still my favourite player. When I see people trashing his career, my first instinct is to lash out, but I do understand their perspective. He's got perhaps the biggest hit in baseball history and it's what I still think about when I step to the plate.
  8. It's easy to hate this Dodgers team with their outrageous payroll and one of the most despicable human beings to ever play this game, but they sure are good.
  9. Trying not to conflate 'the best' with the 'most loved' and considering fans of all age groups and different levels of fandom is a difficult task. It's not going to be a guy like Stieb or Alomar with their difficult relationships with the media and tarnished reputations. Halladay is certainly a candidate amongst fans under 40, but I think overall it's definitely going to be Joe Carter. His jersey is still all over the stadium 30 years later. He's been the author of the most important moments in team history and he's inarguably one of the most likeable and charismatic people to ever play for this team. He's a popular target for more analytically inclined people who resent his popularity, but I don't think that's a common sentiment amongst the fan base as a whole.
  10. I know, it just happens a lot to him. I expect him to have a lot of good games as well.
  11. To preface, I also think we had a solid deadline, but how do you reconcile the fact that we paid an absolutely massive prospect haul (as per fangraphs) when other teams got similar players for comparatively little.
  12. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/ranking-the-mlb-prospects-traded-at-the-2025-deadline/ Fangraphs ranks the top prospects dealt at the deadline. They have Stephen #2, Roden #5, and Rojas #11. That certainly gives us the worst deadline of any team if you have blind faith in their rankings, which you shouldn't.
  13. Tough go for our deadline acquisitions. We would have won had Varland done his job and we also would have won had Dominguez done his job. Mark down a loss for both of them. Very poor showings.
  14. Give this ball a concussion, Captain Kirk.
  15. It's the worst rule change we have seen in modern baseball, by a significant margin. It's destroyed such an awesome part of the game and made it into a mockery.
  16. For the record, Dominguez regularly has games like this throughout his career, and that's what I was concerned about when we made the deal.
  17. They have never gone below the surface. He's been exactly like this for his entire career.
  18. Everyone's in love with the K's, but you also get a lot of this from Seranthony Dominguez. He never knows where the ball is going and may be responsible for a loss here.
  19. Taylor Rogers would have been nice. He was dealt for essentially nothing.
  20. Seems like an appropriate time to use him.
  21. They are a pretty good team with the second place Cy Young award pitcher on the mound. We're doing fine.
  22. I get that the BABIP is high and the minor league stats are just ok, but you can't watch that at-bat and tell me that Joey Loperfido isn't a greatly improved hitter this season. He's becoming one of my favourites to watch, always a good at-bat with a clear plan.
  23. What a catch! Good defense from the Royals this series.
