  1. FIP: Jeff Hoffman: 4.15 David Bednar: 1.96 Jhoan Duran: 2.48 Griffin Jax: 2.00 Cade Smith: 2.11 All of the elite closers at least have a FIP below 4. You need to take Hoffman's season as a whole, this is who he is. Bednar demoted and he's still this good. I'm certainly not saying he's s*** or can't have a role on this team, but we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's not a playoff calibre closer. He's shown us several times that we need someone better, including tonight, where we needed him as badly as we have all season and he was horrendous.
  2. Most times the incumbent closer doesn't deserve to lose his job. Hoffman hasn't performed all season long. Perhaps part of that is his workload, but the point still stands.
  3. They pitched like s*** in all of the games. Tons of straight stuff in the sweet spots that we just couldn't hit. Our players were not prepared to face one of the league's worst teams, period. They did the same thing against the A's.
  4. We haven't seen a worse performance from this team this season, period. Shame on some of these players not being ready to play a horrendous opponent. They did the same thing against the Athletics. Management also deserves blame. They need to turn this around and it's not going to be due to trades. This is entirely between the ears of these players. Bassitt, Hoffman, Bo, Vlad, etc The journeymen like Heineman and Clement were prepared and ready to hit some truly awful pitching with tons of hittable stuff. Maybe they need to share some tips with the 'stars'.
  5. What a brutal performance against an absolutely f*cking awful team. If we didn't have such a large division lead, I'd watch this and consider selling. Real World Series contenders never, never play like this.
  6. Hoffman needs to get his head out of his f*cking ass and focus on this game. He just cost us the game. What a f*cking clown, just embarrassing. I hate when guys don't take it seriously when it's not a save situation. Go get a real closer, I can't stand this guy.
  7. This is the most utterly disgusting performance we have seen from Jays hitters in a very, very long time.
  8. To tell you the truth, I think I have a reasonable view on JWB. I think I just don't like Dominguez as much as others do. Unless things change, I wouldn't trust him in leverage innings in the playoffs.
  9. Frankly, I don't really think we have enough to do that.
  10. He seems to have made improvements this season. I don't find a 10.1 BB% especially concerning. I'm not saying he's a sure fire star or anything, but it's substantially more value than we have seen some other teams give up in trades so far.
  11. Good luck with that. We're just not in a position to make such a move and a reliever would be more impactful anyways, considering that we already have 5 good starters.
  12. I'm not a fan of this move. Watts-Brown is way too much for a middle relief guy who walks an extremely high number of batters.
  13. What is needed for the playoffs is better relief pitching and perhaps a bat. Everyone reasonable fan and analyst agrees on that, including myself. I mention Matz as a cheap depth piece that can help us in case of injuries and days like today, not as a playoff starter.
  14. I'd target our old friend Steven Matz. We do need depth, but shouldn't overreact to this recent series and pay a lot for a depth starter.
  15. I like our 5 starters just fine, but our lack of pitching depth is being exposed badly. We're absolutely f***ed if one gets hurt.
  16. Why wouldn't we review this? Looks like plate blocking
  17. Our interest makes sense, given his hitting style, but the fit is a bit clunky, given that he's another lefty. Do we trade Lukes for him? Probably at least one of Loperfido and Roden as well. The defense has slipped to average or below this year, so it makes me hesitant to offer a big package.
  18. I agree with the sentiment, but I prefer Bader. Suarez is a really unnecessary and clunky addition, given his position and poor defense. If Springer were out all year or something then I would consider him.
  19. Morton has never been listed for this start, so he wasn't removed or anything.
  20. For what it's worth, in it's one statement, the team made it very clear that no other players were under investigation.
  21. Lucas Giolito discussed threats directed at him by gamblers recently.
  22. I have my doubts. It's got massive support amongst owners and earns an absolutely ridiculous amount of revenue.
  23. There goes a couple of high end prospects for them. Disappointing for D-Backs fans.
