Jonny I agree with you. I think our bullpen is fine as is and would be totally satisfied adding one of the second tier guys. I’m sure Diaz and Garcia will both end up working out fine, and I guess if in a perfect world they weren’t paying Berrios and Santander 40M they could make sense but for now a hitter has to be priority number 1

I don’t look at it the same way you do. Im not concerned about replacing people in a hierarchical sense, my concern is maximizing what is available. I don’t think spending 15M+ on a 32 year old reliever is particularly efficient, especially when you consider guys who sign for like 4M are capable of producing the same

At this point you aren’t going to sign anyone who is 100% reliable or someone you’re going to hand the reigns to and say the 9th inning is yours Better to just find someone who can get both righties and lefties out and lengthen the pen and acquire in July if it’s an issue Im pretty confident in the pen arms honestly

Gotta look past 2026. Does it really matter if they’re division champs next season and Skubal walks? If I was a Tiger fan it sure wouldn’t Or you bring in Sheehan +++ and distribute that money to Michael King and Cody Bellinger with Kevin McG waiting and a bolstered minor league roster

I think the Tigers are nuts if they don’t deal Skubal. The haul would be massive and even if you’re willing to commit 350M or whatever why not acquire a bunch of pieces from the trade and then spend this winter?

I’m sure between Campbell and Mayer they can use one of them as a big piece. I forgot about his extension but it’s 7M I guess the Jays have a logical fit with Barger too. Hard to imagine a deal getting done without him in it
