  1. Preternatural hitting skills and youth paint a projected outcome distribution with an inordinately high chance of above-average / star player performance, even if the mean is only something close to average, methinks. Kind of like the MLB level scouting version of Nomar Mazara...
  2. Nice to see that Yahoo has added absolutely nothing, yet again. In all my time playing Yahoo I think they've had exactly two changes. They went from a white to a black design a few years ago, and then one or two years ago the big leap back to a white UI. That might be it. Oh, NA slots.
  3. The DDL is open for 2016 *cuts ribbon* The league renews as a keeper league so if everyone can select your remaining keeper players before February 7th that you didn't trade or cut this offseason, that would be swell. Then they will all be auto-dropped on the 7th and we will only have to manually add a handful of players to each team before the waiver draft can start.
  4. The slope in value between SP picks in the last 7 rounds is very shallow. It's there, it's just not steep enough to warrant any need to jump on pitching. Andrew Cashner is basically is valuable as Jeff Samardzija. Two years younger, probably projects for a bit more K's and a slightly higher ERA. Those kinds of comparisons exist all over the round gap. The differences between Maeda, McCullers, Gausman and say Heaney, Velasquez are maybe 20% skill and 70% preference. 10% mystery.
  5. It's probably like, Matt Moore and Jacob Faria lol
  6. In terms of avoiding vertical drop on his fastball (creating the rising FB mirage), he has that skill but it's not exactly extreme. Personally I think it's mostly luck, but that's just an educated guess. I've looked into him before and watched highlights and stuff and I just don't buy it. There's some LOB% luck going on too, maybe.
  7. I think it really depends on how many starts Weaver and Santiago make, because they are nearly replacement level and have seniority. If you pencil them in for 60 starts combined, then give me the Rockies. But I'd take Richards/Wilson/Heaney/Shoemaker/Skaggs/Tropeano over the Rockies top six. That ^ is basically as good as Toronto's rotation.
  8. Strictly speaking, what Capps does IS illegal according to the definition of Illegal Pitch in the definitions section of the official rules. The problem is that every pitcher's back foot slides off the rubber to some extent at some point during the motion. But I think you can make a good argument that Capps violates the intended spirit of the rule like other pitchers don't. If you watch a good video of his motion, it looks like he almost re-plants that back foot further down the mound.
  9. The irony in seeing MLB allow him and Walden to do their little skips off the rubber, but harass hitters to stay in the batter's box or whatever the f***.
  10. Should be easy when Capps has a Zumaya level breakdown
  11. ~30th in ISO 2015 was an inordinately s***** year in the FSL for hitting prospects - in the past couple of years he would have lined up even worse (~45th in ISO). It's true that the FSL is basically the shittiest offensive environment in the minors. You just have to squint so hard to like a 60 hit, 50 power 1B prospect. Present day Joe Mauer? James Loney in a 75th percentile outcome? Ryan Goins and K f***ing P slugged about the same in the FSL.
  12. Could be starting games for fantasy playoffs. Best case scenario, the midpoint of the year.
  13. And yet Dominic Smith makes their top 100, lol. .097 ISO in 1221 pro PA
  14. Ryan Goins is legit Mondesi will be a league average hitting MLB shortstop though, by the time he's 25
  15. Mondesi is legit He will out-WAR 80% of this list, career.
  16. Oh, I thought FG only had ottoneu style nerd fantasy, not basic category stuff
  17. I thought Yahoo only went to 20 teams?
  18. The domestic violence thing could actually help his value if it means he's hard to trade IRL. In Coors through 2017!
  19. Miami Chen no longer blows.
  20. I got Arrieta for free in the DDL and just got Waino for Ben Revere and change
  21. Pitching is so easy to add and turnover though. If I was in this thing I'd go 9 bats before a starter, easily.
  22. I wouldn't touch either of them just for aesthetic reasons
  23. I think I'm just more pro-Hamilton in dynasty. They have the same offensive skill-set but Hamilton has even more extreme speed. Billy will be the more impactful fantasy guy in his physical prime. Dee's 2014 is probably real but 2015 was half mirage.
