  1. The 2012 Boston Red Sox went 69-93. The 2012 Boston Red Sox had a pythag W-L of 74-88. The 2017 Toronto Blue Jays still project to be over .500 and the second best team in the division for the rest of 2017. Maybe I won't grace you with a detailed reply tonight because you just aren't smart enough to be worth it. My time is very valuable.
  2. I think we can all agree that the argument of "the team that won 69 games was .500 for a couple of months so they were actually good" is a steaming pile of baby s***
  3. Just you wait until I get home tonight, mister
  4. It's not clear whose cock I was shown. Did he pants me or did he whip it out? Please clean up this metaphor.
  5. The defense is apparently awful. It's the main reason the Yankees never really gave him a shot.
  6. You know what they say - you can never have too many third basemen.
  7. You could just as easily have said "I love that for NJH" Why are you so scared of love, Brian?
  8. Refsnyder is significantly better than McBroom, who is a true org player. Guys like Refsnyder turn into surprisingly productive MLB players all the time. Of course he probably won't, but at least he's interesting.
  9. remember when the Red Sox went 69-93 in 2012 and then won the World Series the next year? baseball is more random than people think
  10. I see we're just going to whip out a bunch of strawmen at this point. Excellent. When I said people were "embarrassingly stupid" I was talking about the ones who think "going for it next year is a joke". I don't even know why you got involved and tried to argue with me about something if you think they could reasonably go for it in 2018, which is my main argument.
  11. More like 8 months, but okay. If they go for it again in 2018 then you need to delete the board
  12. I kind of want to go all-in on the next ~2 seasons. I think this is my window. Open to moving Michael Kopech and Francisco Mejia (plus anybody, including Adams, Mahle) in a big gross mega-deal.
  13. Keston Hiura seems like a Mike Trout type bat to me. Feel free to quote this in 3 years.
  14. So basically, you want them to be indecisive with no real plan for 2018, hoping some opportunistic trade falls in their lap while maybe signing some s***** stop gap players and making some half assed attempt at competing?
  15. Toronto is already in year ~three of their Shlieffen Plan. Retreat isn't really an option.
  16. I'm a rationalist, not an optimist. For most of these old players I'm just looking at their production this year vs. their current rest-of-season projections... and the projections are significantly better. I prefer that ^ approach to hand-wavy pseudo-arguments like "he's old so he's probably done". I don't think there's even a good trade market for Donaldson right now and he's clearly playing with a somewhat serious injury.
  17. Can just as easily trade Donaldson in the middle of 2018
  18. Obviously specific players are debatable but the general trend certainly isn't. Unexpectedly bad or hurt, under control next year Donaldson Pearce Tulo Travis Pillar Morales Sanchez Not under control in 2018 but could be back, could be better Bautista Estrada Liriano Could have really contributed, f***ed by injuries: Alford Pompey Also Grilli and Howell... but reasonable people expected them to not be very good. Hoped they would be, but I don't think there was much expectation. On the flip side, the team has like, three or four good surprises and only of them (Smoak) isn't a stupid reliever.
  19. This is what nobody gets. Unless the rebuild idiots want to dump Stroman, Sanchez, and Osuna while they're at it? Then the next window becomes like 2021 at the earliest. Woooo
  20. Tulo derives a lot of his value right now from simply being capable of manning the SS position. Take that away from him and he's nothing. You could just grab someone like Trevor Plouffe for free and get the same (or similar) 3B production
  21. There are like TEN players on this team right now that have been unexpectedly bad, and could reasonably be expected to regress upwards in 2018. Some of you guys are f***ing embarrassingly stupid. Borderline intellectual functioning. Get a new hobby. The CFL needs fans.
  22. JD Martinez is not a great player. Great hitter, but a statue in the OF. There's really no rational argument for not taking my approach to things. Sorry, folks. Donaldson is the train that carries everything else and he's having a shittacular year so they need to just hold him anyway.
