Platoon advantage. Probably smart to treat McAdoo as a multi position platoon guy at the start, ease him in by putting him in situations to succeed. Also provides us with a good pinch hitting option for later in the game.

Had the same reaction. McAdoo might not be anything but now is the time to see if you have something with him. He has pop from the right side and can cover 2B/3B. The alternative is Josh Smith in a lost season for him. Seems pretty self explanatory. 

Maybe McAdoo has shown too much power lately and that will interfere with the team’s “never-ending barrage of singles” strategy.

Aug 12 and it didn't go very well.  That's the night Varland had to bail him out because it didn't seem he'd be able to hold a 5 run lead.
