  1. He was clearly out, lol. Replay is so poorly implemented

  3. Thames' current wOBA and wRC+ are higher than Bonds' best seasons. He's a rich man's Bonds. Of course, Thames has a 23% k rate and .400 BABIP, so to some extent his numbers are lucky. How much is TBD.
  4. Click on SLG or ISO - he is killing pitches inside. Really he is killing all pitches.
  5. No, only the catcher is permitted to wear the catcher's mitt. Only the first baseman can wear the first baseman's glove. Everyone else must fit in the standard fielding glove definition. A pitcher's glove is not allowed to be "distracting" to the hitter. The rules are permissive, not prescriptive - so the C and 1B can wear normal fielding gloves if they want, I think.
  6. It's because of the MLB rules about gloves. A player is only allowed to wear a 1B glove if they are playing 1B - says so in the rules. Last year the Pirates complained about Rizzo crashing with a 1B glove while Zobrist was manning 1B. Rizzo had an illegal glove, technically. So now Rizzo switches gloves with the 2B on these plays - he is officially playing 2B in the box score. It's technically different from other shifts for that reason.
  7. He's already worth keeping for several teams. It's not every season that a player with such a cool name comes along.
  8. He's probably on the move this year unless Bryant/Rizzo get hurt.
  9. This is a big one. With a win tonight, Toronto could possibly move out of dead last in MLB.
  10. Yeah it's probably hard to even talk to a player about changing their approach when they've hit .340 all the way up the ladder. Tapia's prime issues with breaking through are probably defense and speed utility. Apparently he can't play CF and it also seems like he's an awful baserunner for some reason.
  11. Really I just wanted him for free. Throwing shade at you worked! Everyone knows the thing to ignore from scouts is defensive reports.
  12. It's the Francisco Lindor effect. Some of these shiny golden-boy SS prospects will inevitably fail.
  13. Jeimer Candelario - 3B - Chicago Cubs http://d3k2oh6evki4b7.cloudfront.net/req/201704071/images/headshots/b/bac9465f_mlbam.jpg Stats: .330/.420/.571 in 93 AAA games. "There are all kinds of fantastic hitterish traits here." - Eric Longenhagen "Candelario is an advanced hitter from both sides of the plate. The swing is simple, short, and geared for contact, but he is strong enough to make it loud if he gets a pitch to drive. And like most Cubs prospects not named Albert Almora, Candelario has a keen eye and strong approach at the plate. So he knows which pitches to drive. All things considered, it’s a plus hit tool." - BP Prospect Staff "Candelario is a talented offensive player who could start for several clubs. A switch-hitter with a fluid stroke from both sides of the plate, he makes consistent hard contact and draws a healthy amount of walks." - MLB.com "‘Enfuego’ is an understatement when it comes to Candelario’s 2017 start after being one of the last sent out to the minors towards the end of big league spring training. Candelario jumped onto the Cubs’ radar after a solid 2014 season, and then a real breakout 2015 that saw him stroke 10 jacks and 35 doubles. He then cemented his prospect status by repeating the offensive feat while burning through Double-A and Triple-A pitching with 39 doubles and 13 long-balls last year. So far this year, Candelario is showing that he may have little left to prove in the minor leagues, and he could force the Cubs’ hand if this type of extra-base hit damage is still going on in mid-May. Candelario has pop and is a big strong kid... He has always has a good approach at the plate and is relatively comfortable hitting with two strikes... a doubles machine... The glove continues to be solid, and despite getting a lot of looks at first base in spring training, third base remains his best spot... The ingredients are there for Candelario to be an impact-type bat in a big league lineup..." - Dave Defreitas, 2080 Baseball Such an attractive player. Imagine a prime Pablo Sandoval type 3B, that isn't fat as f***.
  14. Dinger can you please hype up Jeimer Candelarbro for me? I'd like to trade him for something sweet but I'm not exactly sure how this works.
  15. Shelbi has a 3.31 FIP right now and Steamer thinks he's a league average SP. He's okay!
  16. I saw a tweet that his last pitch of the game was 99mph. My internal scouting report database has his velocity range as 89-94. Big developments for the Butt Stallions, if true.
  17. Looking to make a small trade to clear a roster spot - Lonnie Chisenhall or Scott Schebler for maybe a 3rd round pick or something like that. Both have CF eligibility. Lonnie is supa hot fire right now and Scott is interesting and objectively better than Jessie Winker
  18. Look, if you want to get pumped about an 18th round, 100k player in A ball, go right ahead.
  19. Not a lot of public scouting information. It's too early to get excited about a college draftee in A ball--he's a bit old for the MWL. It's not uncommon for random college players to succeed in the low minors. It's obvious he can hit to some extent. It's also really nice that he's playing around the diamond (1B/2B/3B); he's not just some pure 1B/DH profile. But, unless he starts clobbering A+ and AA, he's not even in the org top 20. And even if he hits a bit in the upper minors and has some defensive value or versatility, that might not make him a real MLB prospect. One old Jays prospect I could comp would be Brad Glenn, if you want a fringe college draftee example who did climb to ladder but flopped. So I would say - he has the potential to have some limited potential.
  20. Alford will be close to leading affiliated baseball in wOBA after today's game. Bradley Jones in the mix too! http://www.fangraphs.com/minorleaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=40&type=1&season=2017&team=0&players=0&sort=17,d
  21. Looks like the 7th 14-0 in league history belongs to me North (RIP) 2013 KK (nostalgia) 2013 Jaysblue 2014 Silvergums 2015 TCA 2016 Havok 2016 ME THIS WEEK In the race to the bottom, Gibbers is now the leader in being 14-0'd Gibbers x3 Boxy x2 Jays_Fever x2
  22. House was super intriguing when he came up. He had excellent peripherals, OK stuff, good pitchability. Then he got hurt and his stuff went to s***. If he's healthy, it's reasonable to get ever so slightly excited about what he can maybe do. I remember when both he and Bolsinger were popular speculative upside plays in deep fantasy leagues.
