  1. I'm still all-in on Joey Gallo, btw. He's going to be a beast this year.
  2. The "Zach Davies is the next Kyle Hendricks" prophecy is off to a terrible start.
  3. I have a s*** SP draw week 1 - zero two start SP vs. your four. Felt compelled to take the risk.
  4. It's extremely bizarre. I suppose at the end of it all it's ~10 USD for like 2-5 minutes of work. There are presumably people without great incomes who make a mini-hobby of doing small tasks online through forums like this for $5-$10 here and there. Beats working for an hour at Burger Kind for $10, taxable.
  5. please do not delete this
  6. Yeah the throw into 2nd base for the PO was pretty strong.
  7. The Houston vs. Texas comparison isn't really fair. Texas has been really good for a while and has not had any chance to draft guys like Correa/Bregman/Springer/Appel/Aiken/Tucker. I guess they had Dillon Tate. But yeah, Texas' minor league system - much beloved - has seen a lot of flops. I'm also thinking of guys like Mike Olt, Cody Buckel, Martin Perez (yuck), Michael Choice, Nick Williams, Travis Demeritte, Jake Thompson, Luis Sardinas... even Smoak. Texas just isn't benefitting enough right now from the talent in their system, or that flows through their system. Ex., Leonys Martin (shouldn't have dealt him!) They are maybe over-investing in veterans at the MLB level? But I guess if Mazara and Profar click big right now, all will be right in their world.
  8. Well the Castro/Osuna promotions were a desperation move by a GM who probably felt like he basically had to win or get fired. I would say, there is almost zero chance anything that aggressive would happen under a Shatkins team. I don't believe that Cleveland has historically been a very aggressive organization when it comes to development. SABER teams like CLE, TB, OAK, tend to take it slow. There aren't that many teams that have an aggressive approach with prospects and consistent development success, but perhaps TEX is one example.

Wait, that was a poor way to make the point. Hilarious that the Leaves sneak into the playoffs like this and get rewarded by possibly facing the worst team in the playoffs in Ottawa. It's as if the 6th and 7th seeds in the old system met in the first round, or something like that.
  10. that's humanly impossible! hot gun
  11. Sounds like Jesse Hahn before he became awful
  12. I don't think I have the onus of proof here
  13. literally just posted it so you would respond with something like that I'm creating an algorithm bot to troll you. This is research.

  15. Maybe they don't need a 5th SP until like, the 12th or something?

But why? Does Gary Bettman want to die even more alone than he already will?
  17. Cliff notes: - Vlad and Bo both skipping A- and going straight to Lansing (A). This is fairly aggressive. As a 1999 birthday Vlad could be the youngest hitter in the Midwest League. Bo should be one of the youngest, and he follows the age-level path of elite prospects Eloy Jimenez and Kyle Tucker, who both played in the league last year as 19 year olds. - Biggio and Zeuch both kind of skipping Lansing and going to Dunedin (A+). They had very brief stints in Lansing in 2016. - Conner Greene will pitch in AA for the third season in a row. - Adonys Cardona actually still exists!!!
  18. Bullpen'd tho Probably a win for Stras. Interesting to see how Washington uses the bullpen pieces.
  19. Trea Turner is annoyingly good. I just realized that I have this extremely amusing trade line that goes all the way back to our first prospect draft, and my awful horrible 1st round selection then... Zunino --> Anibal Sanchez --> Ryu --> D.Norris --> Urias --> Glasnow --> TreaTurner --> Puig --> Correa I picked Zunino 9th overall in that draft. Correa and Puig were the 18th and 35th selections. Norris was 118th. Urias and Glasnow were 22nd and 50th the following year. Turner was 22nd in 2014. The "victim" of the 4th swap was the benefactor of the 7th swap.
  20. Once a player is DFA'd the team has 10 days to trade, release, or waive/outright him (or, pull him back if claimed). I think they have to place the player on waivers within one week of the DFA, because the waivers process takes three business days. So it depends if they've waived him yet... if it was yesterday that they did waive him, then it should process Wednesday.
  21. No, it's a stylistic pause that emphasizes the at all.
  22. "Losing Jose Fernandez is tragic but having to watch Edinson Volquez every five days is a tragedy in and of itself. I feel so bad for Marlins fans..." When you write a post but intelligently hold off on clicking the button until the inning is over.
  23. "the simple fact" is that you aren't actually smart, at all.
  24. This is an absurdly arrogant statement.
