  1. I googled Ryan Kalish to see how long ago his rookie season was and it blew my mind too
  2. We stole him from the Red Sox forum way back. RyanKalishFan was the first name lmao

    NBA Thread

Is this actually a reach or did people just get too obsessed with the idea of there being a clear top 4?
  4. That's a huge get for Rizzo. Like, potentially a massive overpay. You love to see it
  5. The thing about Rizzo is he might not even be a league average 1B anymore.
  6. Getting a really solid SP controllable through at least next season just makes so much sense.
  7. I didn't say it was a bad trade, I said it was annoying to lose Riley Adams like this. Of course you're s***ing on Riley Adams. Two big fat shits in a row in this thread. You've taken a s*** 526 words, or half of a grade 9 essay long, to this point. You are taking the worst possible stance on both his skill set and his value. Most of the stuff you are saying about Adams could have been said about Yan Gomes back when he was a 25 year old mediocre catching prospect traded for Esmil f***ing Rogers.
  8. Just refuse to transfer Dinger's team and he can't leave.
  9. Literally, I am just regurgitating Fangraphs information. There's no need to just s*** all over a 40FV prospect because your favourite team traded him. Backup catchers with power but questionable hit tools are like, classic baseball archetypes. They have existed forever, will exist forever, and will get work forever. Some hit just enough to carve out long careers, most don't, obviously.
  10. Catching can get pretty thin around the league. Adams is flawed but he's still a ~40FV prospect with good minor league numbers, raw power, other tools. He projects as a good hitting backup who can hold his own behind the plate. It's not unreasonable to expect him to have trade value. His place on Toronto's depth chart is mostly irrelevant for his trade value.
  11. Hudson is having an elite year and making less money. Nats probably asking for a lot better return.
  12. Never, lol. Shut up about it.
  13. A necessary trade Hand should help and has some upside. Looks like his velo is actually UP this year... It's annoying that they could have just claimed or signed Hand but those are past misses and you can't let them cloud present decisions Adams had no place on the team going forward other than as a sometimes backup catcher BUT his minor league numbers and skill set had some appeal so to see him traded for 1/3 of a season of a rental reliever making market rate money and having a so-so year is a bit disappointing. You would have liked to see Toronto maximize his trade value somehow but evidently the league does not value him much. Oh well. Good to be buying. More please.
  14. Holy f***, Riley Adams burned for Hand. That's annoying.
  15. Predicting that the prospect dealt here will be very annoying. But we are buying, friends.
  16. Yeah gimme Groshans over Duran too. I think Groshans is a top 50 prospect.
  17. 4.01 FIP, 3.84 xFIP. He is doing fine. Arguably better than league average production so certainly better than most 5th or even 4th SP.
  18. No no, it's Charlie Montoyo's fault and the team just isn't clutch
  19. There is something poetic about what happened with Blake Snell. Complains about his team trading veterans to the Padres then gets traded to the Padres himself and sucks farts.
  20. That's not objectively true. It's a philosophical question and it depends on how you value or think about things like true talent vs. production, ERA/RA9 vs. DIPS, projection vs. results, WPA vs. unleveraged linear weights, etc. There is certainly an argument to be made that WAR underrates elite relievers because of WPA considerations BUT is Kendall Graveman an elite reliever? Projection systems still think he's barely a good reliever. When you say something like "is having a better year" the rebuttal is plainly that he is probably just getting lucky in high leverage situations. So it's up for debate. Anyway, I think Seattle was wise as hell to cash in and they got a massive value in return in Toro. The point of my OP was not to compare 2021 Graveman and Liriano in context, but Houston obviously thought Liriano back then had big value. Or they just thought Teoscar was a lost cause. Maybe they think Toro is a lost cause now. Who knows.
