  1. And there has probably been a month or two somewhere in his career where Barney had a higher batting average than someone much better than him. Stupid "point" is stupid.
  2. Given his Romero like command, this is hardly surprising.
  3. I wonder what Jim thinks a fair return for 2 months of a possibly broken 3B is?
  4. Yup. Even though he's an arm at the lower levels (it's hard to project much value from any of those guys), he's got a decent enough profile too. Good work by San Diego.
  5. Yea, that's not a bad get. Fringe starter/solid bench guy under control for the next 5+ years. Obviously not a star but pretty good for a guy who you only control for 2 more months and may also still be hurt.
  6. Yea, it should really do nothing on that front. But, some GMs (specifically the ones fooled into thinking Sanchez is an elite pitching prospect) are more retarded about small sample performance than we'd like to believe. If he comes up and gas-cans a few games, he might scare a dino off. It's unlikely that doing well in a few short relief appearance would provide a boost of equal magnitude to the same idiots. Or maybe it would. I shouldn't pretend how the brains of Amaro et al work.
  7. From a guy that knows stuff: "Sanchez called up. It just doesn't make any sense on any level. It's unlikely that this is good for his development, it's probably bad for his trade value, definitely bad long-term to waste the service time and he's unlikely to upgrade the team in any meaningful way."
  8. Yea, simultaneous post. On the same page. The really annoying part is this almost assuredly stems from some useless piece of s*** pro scout who looked at Santos' ERA before his last outing, and submitted a wildly biased report because of it. If scouts would leave the #s alone entirely, they'd be alot more effective.
  9. Were half the posters here even born?
  10. No, no. You got this all wrong. You're supposed to trade assets for relievers. Duh.
  11. So then after 19 innings we're comfortable saying he's worse that Rob Rasmussen? That seems dubious. I'm not even saying Santos is a valuable asset on the whole. He's a pitcher. A relief pitcher. A relief pitcher with recent arm trouble. Staying healthy is a skill and he's probably not great at it. He's as volatile as it comes. If this somehow clears a bit of salary for a future move, ok. But if it's simply a case of them thinking Rasmussen will help them win more games well then ew.
  12. I should be happy. It's a small but bad move that makes it ever so slightly more likely AA gets fired. Which, the sooner the better. I would like to actively cheer for this team at some point again.
  13. Question: When healthy, was Sergio Santos good in 2013?
  14. Good thing you're a numbers guy.
  15. If only they could get rid of that scrub Kessel. Then the shackles would really be off. #MVPTB
  16. I've never heard you say this. Interesting. It literally changes everything.
  17. "It's like having Donovan Bailey out in CF! It's really something!!" - Paul Beeston, The not so distant future
  18. I might not have been serious.
  19. Thank god we cleared a 40 man spot so we can trade Pompey for Soria this week.
  20. Oh? There's a 538 article from a couple days ago explaining the basic statistical argument. I don't feel like doing you the courtesy of linking it because you're annoying. Then there's the whole bevy of common sense based arguments any of which would lead a reasonable individual to conclude Boston is still a good team.
  21. The Red Sox are pretty clearly a top 10 team going forward. They're good.
  22. I think you're quite confused on the definition of the word "minimum".
  23. He's borderline. Baseball America has him #4 (very aggressive), all the other publications in the 10-20 range.
  24. Not sure if their fielding skill is included to be honest.
  25. ~80 innings of past xFIP do not make for good projections. Quit positing as such.
