  1. It's all happening. All of it.
  2. Can we have a meta-thread where we just talk about the thread?
  3. Lester Lackey Some close to league avg guy x3 And if not Lester, someone close to his calibre via FA or trade. I don't see Cherrington sitting on his hands in the offseason. The lineup is above league average too. Papi will lose some skill via age but we would expect Betts, Bradley and Boegarts will all progress naturally. They won't be a juggernaut but they'll be a 85ish true talent win team. That's good enough to compete if you get a bit of luck on your side.
  4. That's really not true. They'll be right in it next year.
  5. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Jesse Chavez. But I was referring to their playoff rotation and he likely won't be a part of it.
  6. Lester Kazmir Gray Shark Have fun, AL.
  7. It does. But so does 2 a leveraged months + playoffs of a 4.5 WAR player with a useful platoon bat thrown in. Seems pretty even to me. Pretty surprised they moved Cespedes but the decision is not without reason.
  8. There probably is a some survivorship bias here.
  9. Douchebag Hiptsers: 1 The Rest of the World: Alot more than 1
  10. Just read the article man. 2200 PAs of observed performance would get you to 50% of your projected platoon skill going forward. So at 2500 PAs I'd believe that he does have a platoon split but I wouldn't label him a .330/.370/.500 hitter against LHP going forward either. We should expect something less "mashy" than that.
  11. It is incorporated. But it's effect on run differential is nowhere near as large as pitch framing. Mostly because there are many instances where pitch framing comes into play during a single game where runners taking the extra base on a hit to the outfield happens at most a couple of times.
  12. Even the good umpires get fooled consistently by the top framers. I do agree with the notion that this is a stupid skill though. With robo umps it would vanish entirely. But until that day, it's very valuable and probably the easiest way to pick up wins cheaply.
  13. You're vastly overestimating platoon skill for a RHB vs LHP if these are your rules of thumb.
  14. Would also like to remind everyone that Sanchez isn't going to be sitting 97 as a starter (that's obvious). Comparing Stroman's stuff to what we saw tonight isn't completely fair.
  15. Well the stuff looks nasty as hell. Don't think that surprises anybody. I feel like he could probably throw about 105 if he actually used his lower half. Let's maybe not declare his curve a far better than average mlb offering (or better than Stroman's) until he induces at least 1 swing and miss with it. Edit: didn't mean for the post to reply to yours.
  16. Weird post. A) I didn't imply they were even good (above average) at drafting and developing. Rather that they were not bad at it as many on this board would lead you to believe. The current regime didn't draft Delmon Young. In fact, they inherited that mess and fixed the situation with one of their best trades. Not sure why this would be in your points against column. C) "What happened to that good bat Bj Upton had his few years to the finished product he became as a free agent?" - I don't really know what you're trying to say here. I think something along the lines of "they f***ed BJ Upton up". That doesn't make any sense. 22 wins while under team control exceeds rational expectations.
  17. Probably thought the same thing about Zobrist.
  18. "The Rays don't draft or develop well" - various posters Here's a 2.5 win guy that they get for the next 6 years. I guess he drafted and developed himself? http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/tampa-bays-new-center-fielder-of-the-future/
  19. Cliff Lee is still a damn good pitcher. He's also been about as durable as one could want. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2014&month=0&season1=2008&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=8,d The Dodgers would be much better off taking on his entire contract than trade Pederson + Seager (or whatever) for Price.

    NHL Thread

The Leafs did something not overtly stupid. This is disappointing to me.
