  1. This is AA creative accounting. The $750,000 buy out will count towards next years payroll the way Rogers does their accounting...which frees up the rest of his entire contract for this year. I'm guessing he gets claimed and within a few days AA has traded for someone like Headley...the only problem with my line of thinking is, if other teams want Santos couldn't AA have dumped him for nothing in a trade without the DFA.
  2. The Blue Jays could consider the Phillies’ Kyle Kendrick if they aren’t able to make a higher-profile trade, CSNPhilly.com’s Jim Salisbury writes. A Jays scout watched Kendrick as he struggled in his start against the Braves on Sunday. It’s unclear what sort of return Kendrick might fetch — he has struggled this season, posting a 4.87 ERA, 5.5 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 over 125 2/3 innings. Kendrick is eligible for free agency after the season. -please god no!
  3. The Blue Jays and Yankees both scouted Cliff Lee‘s final rehab start, CSNPhilly.com’s Jim Salisbury writes. Lee returns from the DL to start against the Giants tonight, and scouts from several teams are expected in attendance for Lee’s two scheduled starts prior to the July 31st deadline.
  4. Massive series coming up. (At least it's late July and we're playing meaningful baseball). Lackey vs Hutchison-I think hutch will pitch well after having some rest with all star break Peavy vs Happ- peavy not doing great this year but I think he'll own us this game for some reason. Buchholz vs dickey- buch was lights out last start, I bet he's figured it out just in time to shut us down. De la rosa vs stroman- pitching duel, come on strow show! I'm guessing we split which I guess won't be horrible considering we need to just hold down the fort until the injuries get better. Plus no Lester!!!
  5. Glad we can't take on salary, it means Sanchez, Norris, Pompey, osuna are safe.
  6. The day after we trade the farm for an Ace is the day that Aces arm falls off and we lose our 4 best prospects for nothing more than paying for 1-3 years of shoulder surgery rehab while we watch our traded prospects turn into top 10 prospects in the whole game. The rays can keep price and deal with his 20 mil salary next year.
  7. The only trades the jays should make are taking on salary at this point, no more giving up prospects. Not after the s*** show month we just watched. Maybe if they were playing like Oakland you start to consider unloading the farm, but to do it now after a 2-8 crucial road trip, and over a month of futility would be a horrid decision. Now we just have to wait for lawrie, EE, and Lind to come back. I believe if they come back and we avoid other injuries we can have another 20 win month.
  8. I think so to, but it's not me taking her down and if GD is a true fan he'd give it a go.
  9. I think if she is a true fan, that bluejays girl should let GD take her down and see if that works first, if that changes nothing then sacrifice king.
  10. This is very true, a lot of fans/media/bloggers always say who cares if he is Canadian, which is partially correct. But the benefit of a good Canadian player for drawing casual fans and developing new fans is huge and why we should keep a guy like Pompey and cross our fingers. When a dad tells his 10 year old son while at the game that the next guy up is Canadian and went to the school down the road from his school, that 10 year old suddenly starts to truly dream he could be a blue jay and starts watching more intently. Plus casual fans like to cheer for home grown talent.
  11. Wow, s*** just got real. Does this mean wilko gets to kill sh3156?
  12. @gregorMLB: Gibbons when asked if he sees a light at the end of the tunnel based on anything players are showing him on the field: "No." #BlueJays I love gibbons, but might be time to send a message and let the players know they cost a man his job.
  13. Well Olerud, do u think we'll be filing this season with some of the other cluster f***s you mentioned in this thread, or should I calm the f*** down and relax?
  14. If we fall to 10 games out by July 31st I'm comfortable trading anyone, and if don't sell something off it would be considered a complete failure on managements part.
  15. Sounds to me like he's trying to talk his way to NY to fill their whole at shortstop next year. Add scherzer and Lester and bam, our window just slammed shut.
  16. I tried to stay optimistic for as long as possible, but my confidence is going down fast. If we lose EE for more then a month forget about it....AA should be prepared to be sellers. We could be 5-10 games out of first by July 31st. I'm not saying we are sellers, just saying be prepared. f***in hurts to be a fan of this team!
  17. I will die of a heart attack on every pitch if that happens! And I've agreed with almost all your posts, welcome.
  18. Worst played game I've watched since.......every game last year.
  19. I think Pompey to double a is thread worthy. Becoming my favorite prospect. We need to track his AA numbers, but alas I'm too lazy.
  20. I would much rather hold onto what's left of our farm and cross our fingers..or give up those 3 players for a pitcher with 3 or 4 years of control. Something like the Latos deal a few years ago.
  21. I wonder if we could get him as a salary dump, plus with maybe a low level prospect or two thrown in by AA. Can he play 2nd base when lawrie comes back?
  22. That was kind of my point.
  23. You know what is sad, drabeks stuff was/is legit. The first few games he pitched I still remember the movement...but now he is being out pitched by Hendrix in AAA or how ever you spell the f***ers name.
