    Considering we won 21 games in May 2003 and didn't make the playoffs I am going to fight to stay calm as best I can, but it's becoming very difficult. For instance, yesterday after the win I texted a friend "f***in playoffs"!!! - forgive me olerud for I have sinned.

    KC your probably right, not sure about Cleveland. We should focus on the worst teams..... Arizona, San Diego, cubs, mets, phillies, Houston. Won't include boston I'd bet AA pulls off a blockbuster with phillies involving a pitcher and utley but I don't think we have the cash. Maybe we can include top prospects and even the cash out by sending Romero and Happ their way.

    Wow, major leaguers are good. Release time of .55 seconds on the turn at 2nd. And tejadas release time I think was .47 after dive. Insane!

    Who's in? Versatile Rays infielder/outfielder Ben Zobrist suffered a dislocated left thumb in today’s action, reports Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times (links to Twitter). A brief trip to the DL seems likely, though the injury does not appear to be a long-term concern. Through 177 plate appearances, Zobrist owned an effective (but low for his standards) .258/.352/.364 line with three home runs and three stolen bases. Discussing the struggling Tampa club in a piece for Grantland earlier today, Jonah Keri wrote that Zobrist, who is earning just $7MM this year, could potentially become a trade piece if the Rays cannot turn things around. His contract, long one of the most team-friendly in the game, includes a club option for next season at $7.5MM (with a $500K buyout). What would it take? I know, it will never happen......

    Olerud, I'm getting a little worked up! The AL east is s*** and I feel we have one of the best offences in baseball, plus with Jansen back our pen might be half descent. If our starters could just give us six solid innings I'm starting to think we might have a shot this year..this could be the year. LETS GET EXCITED, COME ON, JOIN ME. I KNOW YOU WANT TO. YOU CAN FEEL IT TUGGING AT YOU.

    I'm no longer a fan of the guy and to my eyes he's clearly lost something on his fastball and crispness to his slider. However for 1 year at 10 mil I guess I keep him. I'm quite confident it would end up being a sunk cost though, but it's only 1 year.

    I think it's good it's stroman time, and I see no problem with giving him a few innings out of the pen to get his feet wet, then take Happ or mcgowans spot.

    I'm down with the first 2, we'd likely be the same quality team if we did but with smaller payroll. But who plays short if Reyes is gone, Goins?
