Over the past 3 years, Colon is 30th in WAR for pitchers... Comparable to the likes of Kuroda, Derek Holland, Jordan Zimmerman, and even Latos. He's not a fluke. Dude has been doing this for like 15 years.

Guy just knows how to pitch. He's super consistent despite throwing like 90% fastballs. Would love him as a #3. Nothing bad can come from offering him a reasonable 2 year deal. We're not talking long-term here.

Colon has shown an interest in returning to Oakland but a number of teams would be interested on Colon for just a one-year commitment. ... If all it takes is a 2 year deal to woo Colon up here... get it done. Something like 2/12-14 would be fantastic for him.

There are SO MANY GOOD PITCHERS WHO WILL BE AVAIALBLE ON 1-3 YEAR CONTRACTS WHY IS HE SO FOCUSED ON TRADES. JESUS CHRIST LIKE LITERALLY NOTHING BAD COULD COME FROM OFFERING AJ BURNETT 2/24 OR COLON 2/14 OR SOMETHING REASONABLE.

If Ricky is intelligent, he should have enough money to not be forced to toil away in the minors well into his 30s. Kawasaki will probably go on to become an investment banker in Japan because I assume he's good at math. The other two should fit in the Mexican League perfectly though.

Can the Phillies even afford to take on that much extra salary?

Ruben Amaro Jr is probably the dumbest f***ing GM of the past decade. He single handedly ruined a potential dynasty set up by Gillick via ridiculous contracts and trades. This is the guy who is responsible for the Ryan Howard contract among a variety of other disasters. If AA gets outsmarted by this guy... well.... I won't really know what to say.
