  1. Quoted because nobody else seemed to notice this gem.
  2. He only had 7 XBH to the opposite field in 2011. He's a dead pull hitter no doubt about it.
  3. Career for balls put in play: Rasmus pull: 1.352 OPS Rasmus up the middle: .779 OPS Rasmus oppo: .518 OPS Bautista pull: 1.399 OPS Bautista up the middle: .768 OPS Bautista oppo: .637 OPS Edwin pull: 1.304 OPS Edwin up the middle: .748 OPS Edwin oppo: .481 If it aint broke, don't fix it with these guys.
  4. Small addition is this piece from the wonderfully talented Rany Jazayerli, which shows how the Royals' offense had changed (for the worse) after Seitzer's departure, trading doubles for homers. Jazayerli references a Russel Carleton piece which claimed that Seitzer was worth about 58 runs over the average hitting coach, and through some mathematics and words that I have not read, Carleton concluded that Seitzer was worth 4.5 wins above a replacement-level coach. Basically, as Jazayerli said in his article, Seitzer had been one of the best hitting coaches in the last two decades. -- 4.5 WAR hitting coach ladies and gentlemen!
  5. So he got fired from Arizona for having no results and failed to help turn any of the Royals' top hitting prospects into anything special. Sign me up!
  6. Completely disagree. Halladay is a stud but AJ is a headcase and Marcum/McGowan have/had serious durability issues. I don't think they'd hold up too well deep into the playoffs.
  7. That Fielder contract is going to look really, really bad in a few years. 24 million to a fat guy for the next 7 years. The guy has 2 XBH in 89 playoff plate appearances so far in his time with the Tigers . That's a massive bust right there.
  8. Attendance was up 500K this year. The fans supported this piece of s*** team, they better keep the wallet open and at least give it another chance.
  9. Devastating news for the Dodgers.
  10. I wonder if Kuroda would be interested in coming here on a one year deal (highly unlikely). Turn Kawasaki into a recruiter please AA. He's so lovable. How could anyone say no to him
  11. Did you just seriously compare Michael Young to Kevin Pillar? Young is overrated but consistently put up 2.5-3 WAR over a very fine career. Career .342 wOBA from a most-of-the-time middle infielder.
  12. Desperate PR stunt is desperate if true.
  13. Guy is all over the road here. Zero control
  14. Pull Benoit This is a terrible effort from him.
  15. Nope. Last game I went to was during the O's series.
  16. If you are going to try and make some ridiculous attempt to insult me at least learn how to properly put together a sentence (i.e. learn how to SPELL). I'm 25 years old working for an investment bank in downtown Toronto. I think I'm doing alright.
  17. lol Where did you get "small time financial advisor from the Maritimes" from? I can assure you that this is not the case. When did I ever argue with you about market theory? I cannot remember ever having a conversation with you, ever. Jesus man you need some serious help.
  18. There is something seriously wrong with this Olerud guy. The guy has some really troubling mental issues.
  19. Where are we getting these numbers from? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Baseball_Bugs/population
  20. Unless any of James/Tango/Nox/North49/Me just signed a 5/90 deal, then you are correct.
  21. +1000000
  22. You probably could've gotten your point across with like 6 fewer paragraphs.
  23. Gomes on pace for almost 7 WAR over a full season. Where is Lee_Marvin when you need him
