  1. Scott Carroll will endorse anything:
  2. I think McCarthy in particular would have been a good acquisition. If Hutch's inconsistency are the result of an actual thing, having Redmond and Nolin as a 1-2 depth combo is not all that encouraging.
  3. I find the trade deadline to be a fascinating thing. It's basically some arbitrary date that they pick out of the air that does nothing to preclude teams from improving their team at any point leading up to that date. Yet players spout off because a transaction wasn't made on that specific date. I'm not really too upset by what the Jays did, or didn't do yesterday. I think the team's biggest needs are a RP to fill the role that Delebar and Santos were expected to fill, and maybe a McCarthy-ish kind of starter to give depth to the rotation. Sanchez may be able to fill the former need, but I am disappointed that they didn't address the latter. That said, acquiring a guy like Prado just to say that they made a transaction on July 31st seems pretty fluffy to me.
  4. You should really be more specific with these types of posts. To the original poster, we acquired Canada Savings Bonds. Rogers worried about the bottom line.
  5. Until he gets True Cardinaled and finds himself willing to pay for the privilege to be a True Cardinal. #True #Cardinal #TrueCardinal
  6. Maybe consolidated doesn't mean what I think it means.
  7. He probably doesn't even need to open his eyes. He just knows where the tzatziki is.
  8. Very interesting idea to give him some 2-3 inning outings early September. Any idea if he's altered his pitching repertoire by moving to the pen; i.e., has he dropped a pitch in the pen?
  9. Might be good risky though, especially if we take on salary in lieu of offering useful pieces and the risk is mostly financial. My prediction? AA's MO the last three years has been a long con and he's magnificently despaired the entire baseball world into thinking he's out of his depth; just in time to ninja his way into the most awe inspiring trade deadline the baseball world has ever seen.
  10. Well, they probably are unaware that Kratz is worth $75 million.
  11. I don't think these types of moves are as necessary for this organization as compared to Tampa Bay; i.e., the Jays have greater payroll flexibility. I think I'd rather make sure a guy pans out (as much as you can) and pay him more in his free agent years, than try to guess and be stuck with a multi-year commitment to a guy who flops. Perhaps you're creating a larger overall payroll, but you're also likely getting more bang for your buck.
  12. Stroman. Playoff pressure? Stroman don't care about playoff pressure.
  13. Bad karma if the Jays send Kawasaki back down. Didn't they go into the toilet last season when they sent him down when Reyes returned? Think about it. #science
  14. It may not be either; I'm wondering if he's a bit fatigued and it's affecting his ability to repeat his delivery. He was very sharp in the first inning against Boston, then, not so much. There was some mention on the Blair show about tipping pitches, but I haven't heard much follow-up on that.
  15. I'm not sure who is available and who is not. I'm sure there's a lot of teams that don't know themselves what they should be doing, so it probably affects what deals are going to happen.
  16. Option 2, but target a McCarthy-like starter rather than an infielder/bat. I don't want to go large again and gut further to get another bat, especially when we have bats coming back. I think getting someone like Beltre would be nice, but too expensive. Ultimately, to get this offence going, we need our existing healthy-ish guys like Bautista and Rasmus to heat up and have that complemented by the return of Lind, EE and Lawrie.
  17. Odds of Sanchez seeing action in a one run game? Probably about 100%.
  18. I feel like there are a lot of guys out there like Knobler who have their straw man mostly pre-built so that when the time is right they just throw a hat on it and tweet, TA DA! Pretty sure there was a Heyman tweet a few days ago that started out, "I love WAR, but...."
  19. You had me until the part where Anthopolous starts another rebuild. In my opinion, AA's tenure as GM is over once the "window" closes. I can see the merits of a teardown beginning with Bautista, but ideally AA is in Greece knee deep in authentic cuisine when it happens. Welcome to the board.
  20. Poor Kratz. So ends the 2014 Brad Mills era. Looking forward to the 2016 Brad Mills era.
