  1. The poll should have asked, "Will" they coexist. I'm sure they could have coexisted, they just chose not too. I stand by my answer.
  2. My guess is that Shapiro was furious when he found out that the "BEEST" computer system was actually just a cardboard monitor prop from an Office Depot showroom, and has decided to take it out on everyone involved. This "AA chose to leave" stuff is organizational spin at its finest.
  3. Very interesting. On the whole, I think AA's body of work was hit-and-miss but I understand that he made some big moves and the playoff run is still fresh in everyone's mind. I'll be interested to see how this affects everyone else, most notably, Gibbons. Is Manny Acta currently managing somewhere? I seem to remember him as being a pretty forward thinking guy, by manager standards. At least we'll have something to talk about this offseason.
  4. ??? Not sure what this is about. Don't recall any previous snippet slapping.
  5. I just meant that you've been around so long that the board knows you're a good dude, even when you go on a bag-of-dicks tirade, etc. Meant no harm.
  6. I thought this already existed, as: "The Spanky Rule".
  7. Thanks for the reminder. As much as I enjoy it, I'll need to see if it's still blackout free next season before signing up again.
  8. AA seems to me to be a guy who, if nothing else, seems capable of learning from past mistakes. The DeRosa move may have seemed like a good idea at the time to him, but I doubt a character-only guy still holds appeal to him.
  9. Yes. I liked what they did with Tulo/Revere once Tulo was acquired. At some point though, Revere got cemented into the leadoff position. I get that once you get into the playoffs you don't want to start trying a whole lot of new things, but I wonder how the last game would have ended with JD and Bautista as the final two guys rather than Revere and JD (fully aware Revere got jobbed on that strike call).
  10. I don't think Bautista is going anywhere. He has a Booster Juice franchise to run for pete's sake.
  11. Pretty sure this translates more towards finding a balance between talent and attitude. My guess is that it means no more Colby Rasmsus type guys, but also no more DeRosas as well.
  12. Hey Mookie! Great single! Can I hold anything for you? --- Would also like to know the process for how this came to be.

  14. The other thing I don't get is why they keep saying that if they get David Price warming up, he HAS to be brought into the game. Just last night Harold Reynolds was saying....ah.
  15. I actually checked before posting. I was astounded to find out that he's not dead.
  16. As soon as I read this, I imagined Brutus the Barber Beefcake doing the shearing. Oh man that would be so awesome.
  17. I think I would definitely offer him the QO. In some fashion, this team will need to address the innings gap that was filled this year by the combination of Buehrle, Dickey and Estrada. I guess it's likely that Dickey's option will be picked up, but I think they can do worse than 1 more year of Estrada. The timing might actually work out well in terms of being able to see if Osuna (and perhaps also Sanchez, Hendriks?) can make the switch back to the rotation successfully or not. If he/they can, then maybe you don't have to go to Estrada beyond that first year. Obviously there will be a lot of balls in the air, but I think I'd prefer Estrada on a one year term over committing to a multi-year deal, albeit at a lower annual value.
  18. Wait, is this conversation about Osuna or Hendriks? I was thinking Hendriks. I think I'm suffering from a good ol' case of thread confusion.
  19. My kingdom for a clean first inning from Estrada.
  20. I think I would do it in reverse; think of him as a swing/multi-inning guy and slowly stretch him out so that he could be an emergency starter down the stretch if need be. I think it's tough to go into the season anticipating him in the rotation. If nothing else, hopefully this outing opens some eyes within the organization as to his potential value beyond being an afterthought.
