  1. It looks like Goins cinched that zip-tie around the quad of his Tulo doll just in time. Phew!
  2. I still can't believe how many people are unable to separate "Bautista is a jerk" from "Bautista deserves to have a baseball travelling 95MPH thrown at him".
  3. That final AB last night pretty much sums it up for me. Just so overmatched.
  4. That's pretty much the only silver lining to this season to-date; Shapiro and Co. can now more easily (in terms of fan perception) make decisions on Bautista/Encarnacion based on a baseball reasons, and not nostalgia reasons.
  5. A few people said it yesterday, but I think the key to turning this team around isn't to add depth a la Lincecum to the bullpen, which has obviously struggled. This team goes as Bautista, Donaldson, Encarnacion, Tulo and Martin goes. We're cooked if these guys don't turn things around.
  6. I really don't see how Bautista gets suspended. He made a bad slide and the punishment for that was handed out; he's out, and Smoak was called out. I know Bautista can be an irritant to many, including myself at times, but it seems like a summary of his involvement in this is: - he flipped his bat 7 months ago after hitting the biggest homerun he'll ever hit which rubbed people the wrong way - he got hit in the ribs 7 months later - got ticked off and made an illegal, ill-advised slide and two outs were declared instead of one as a result - got punched in the face - was restrained by Beltre so couldn't be involved anymore I'm more upset with him that his slide cost the Jays an out in a one-run game.
  7. Reading through the last few pages of this thread makes me wish Odor would punch *me* in the face.
  8. Is there anything documented on how to deal with repeat slide offenders? My thinking was that Bautista's slide resulted in the desired reprimand; the runner going to first called out, regardless of the outcome of the throw. I haven't seen anywhere where there is the expectation by the league that there would be a need to escalate how to deal with bad sliders.
  9. He did that too. Zambrano while they were teammates; but he also punched AJP.
  10. Did I miss something, or was this still all about that bat flip from 7 months ago?
  11. The "Regular Arencibia" probably works just as well.
  12. That's too bad, I hate when good shows go out on a weak note. I have noticed a drop off in the last couple of seasons; not too enthralled with the Mr. and Mrs. Bates storyline. Will still watch once Season 6 comes up on Netflix.
  13. Not sure what it is. When my wife first started watching, I figured I would just play around on my phone and sort of half pay attention, but in the first episode they start talking about some dude lost at sea and I started paying attention.
  14. I find this show oddly addictive. Haven't seen the last season yet, but it's a pretty good show.
  15. You've all been Blundell'd.
  16. It will be interesting to see how they handle things when Travis is ready to go. They seem to make a lot of moves based on guys having options (e.g., Zeke); I'm wondering if this will apply to Goins or not.
  17. I think you overestimate the fans; I don't think they'll have this perception at all. I think they're more likely to believe that with most things being equal: Shapiro just couldn't motivate the players the way that AA could because he didn't go through the growing pains with them and he's not Canadian like AA is and he's an outsider and what has Cleveland ever won? and why did he fire that nice Twitter man? etc.
  18. I remember him blowing out a hammy once after crossing the bag trying to leg one out.
  19. Everyone should have known that Ang's follow up posts were fake. Mike Wilner may be a lot of things, but he would never misuse an apostrophe in such an egregious manner.
  20. So Gibby is going to lead off with Zeke, and now be charged with handling a 6-man rotation? [hilarious gif]What is going on?[/hilarious gif]
  21. How does Hutch play into all of this? Did one of our pitchers get injured?
  22. I hope Colabello didn't pay a whole lot for those PEDs.
  23. Just move everybody up a spot and lead off with Donaldson.
  24. If nothing else, perhaps Pompey's presence also makes Pillar (think about? focus on? appreciate) his situation a bit more and helps to get his (offensive) act in gear. Pillar being cemented into a full-time role still isn't super comfortable me, despite his awesome defense.
