  1. Does anybody know either way what the blackout status is for the Jays for the 2016 MLB.TV? The "Blackout Checker" seems to require a US Zip Code rather than Canadian Postal. Thanks.
  2. At this point I would just let him play out the season and go from there. Put the onus on him to put up another monster season in order to reap the benefits that he's looking for.
  3. If AA was still here, he'd probably be tempted to make him the new closer.
  4. The art of subtle escalation... The TSN article is now titled: "Sources: Bautista's demand is five years, $150 million" http://www.tsn.ca/sources-bautista-s-demand-is-five-years-150m-1.442180 The TSN Video section now has an item titled: "Sources: Bautista is demanding five years, $150 million"
  5. It's not fat; it's competitive weight.
  6. CANCEL THE PARADE cf
  7. Yes. The surplus value of his previous contract shouldn't have any effect on his next deal. Offer him a contract based on the predicted value of what he'll provide moving forward, not as a "make up" for the previous deal.
  8. It's not his fault if he gets asked the same question he's already said that he won't answer. I'd rather him do that than not offer himself up to answer any questions. The Toronto media for the most part really blows.
  9. I don't think he has to lie, just a blanket statement to not discuss publicly. There's no doubt that his previous extension has worked out fabulously for the Jays; just seems like a sour way to start spring training. That said, I haven't watched any of the videos or read any of his statements regarding this; going exclusively off comments ITT.
  10. Leg kicks are the new weighted balls.
  11. Sure, in retrospect the extension worked out very well for the organization. However, at the time, Jose wasn't signing that deal out of the goodness of his heart; there was risk assumed by both sides. Regardless of how that deal worked out, I hope the organization offers him a deal based on expected future value, and not because he's "owed" anything due to the surplus value he provided over the past 5 years.
  12. I agree with this sentiment. Bautista just seems more athletic, more cerebral, and for what it's worth, just more engrained with the baseball culture of this city. Even if he has to move out of RF to 1B or DH, he could still conceivably play OF in the extreme circumstances that it may be required.
  13. The brief under the Buck Martinez link: "Blue Jays announcer Buck Martinez explains to Jeff Blair why Kevin Pillar would be a heck of a leadoff hitter, and who’s going to disagree with Buck’s 49 years of baseball experience." Umm, tonnes of people?
  14. Somewhere, Wilner is rubbing his hands together at the thought of being able to pluralize them as "Sanch-i"
  15. I think they'd probably like to split those two up for 2016, assuming it's true that the knuckleball beat Martin up and that the focus required to catch the knuckleball affected his performance at the plate. My Thole response was tongue-in-cheek; he may technically have options left (not sure), but realistically it seems like he's hitched his wagon pretty firmly to Dickey. Hard to imagine another team claiming him, if it comes to that.
  16. Dickey plays for the Toronto Blue Jays. Thole has no options.
  17. "PLAN THE PARADE" - 95% of the Sportsnet comments, probably.
  18. Probably Godfrey more than anyone I think.
  19. Boy was that logo and colour scheme terrible.
  20. I'm not sure why I find a dirt infield so damn exciting, but I do.
  21. Seems counterproductive.
  22. I would be fine with either putting Tulo back into the leadoff spot, or bump everyone up a spot and put Tulo at cleanup. A guy at work asked if I thought they should put Pillar at leadoff because of his speed. I just got up and left the room.
  23. I seemed to have completely missed the Gillespie era. This name rings no bells for me.
  24. Well, it's better than becoming a 1st base coach. I guess. #RAJ
  25. I think I would almost pick the opposite. I feel like Stroman with the number of pitches he throws could get further with reduced velocity than Syndergaard. That said, I wish we had both of them.
