  1. Great, was waiting for the jinx. Now we know who to blame today.
  2. You've gotta love how we were worried about Lawrie's power and he has 6 home runs already. On the other hand, let's hope that average goes up to around .275, with a .340 OBP and he maintains some of the power.
  3. You know, he's trolling. He who picked them to win 90+ games last year. That move would've happened already if AA was that dumb. I mean, why wouldn't the Braves just try to get rid of Uggla's contract. I doubt they'd even ask for much in return.
  4. Maybe Nerve Entrapment Surgery?
  5. Is it just me or is someone hitting on someone in this thread?
  6. Thing is, this is what they were supposed to be doing prior to the 2012 off season. They had a top 10 farm system, payroll flexibility and they threw it away in return for the opposite. I don't think we should feel confident that this FO can get the job done if given another 5 years.
  7. Because according to you, they had no money to spend: They had at least $14M in payroll room. If they needed more to address more of their needs, they could've dealt one of Janssen/Santos and we can add Happ to the list, to address other needs. All signs point to AA simply failing to address needs that he, himself, said would be their priority.
  8. They have depth in the pen in terms of high leverage relievers. Santos/Janssen could be replaced by one of Santos/Janssen, Delabar, Wagner plus John Stilson pitched well in ST and is viewed as a high leverage reliever in the near future. The trade off would've been a better overall team. Let's say they had signed a proven starter and a 2B with the money freed up, that would've made the team better. They kept the strong pen and they've blown 3 leads of 3 or more runs already. AA said all off season they were looking to add 1, 2 or even 3 starters, he just didn't get it done. He kept waiting for prices to fall until it was too late, it's on him first and foremost, he got too cute.
  9. The fact that Gibbons thinks Jenkins is effective at getting ground balls doesn't make his decision correct. You use your better relievers in high leverage situations regardless of what inning it is. Gibbons chose to go with his worst reliever, a guy who was only called up because Wagner has options. He's maybe their 10th best reliever, he should only pitch in games already decided. Happ would've been a better choice.
  10. Not for Santana. They offered $14M to Santana so this obviously means they had/have at least $14M to spend. They could've traded Janssen and/or Santos and/or Cecil to free up more payroll room. Realistically, it would've been only 1 of Janssen or Santos. In fairness, they were rumoured to have traded Santos in 2 separate deals, although it's all rumours.
  11. What makes not bringing in Loup or Cecil to get out of the 3rd worse was that they both pitched later on in the game down by 4. If Loup had gotten the out within a batter or 2, he could've gone out for the 4th as well. I said I would've even brought in Happ before Jenkins, but anyway, too late now.
  12. By AA and Beston's own words, the money is there. They did offer $14M to Santana and AA could've traded Janssen and/or Santos and/or Cecil.
  13. That was kind of the point, that we don't think he can make the necessary moves to improve this roster to where it's a contender? You had said that the moves were in the starting rotation and these moves wouldn't be available for 3 months. To which I replied that the moves were available since last off season yet AA didn't address the team's holes. Anyway....
  14. The moves were available this past off season and he didn't address the holes, although at least he talked about some of the issues.
  15. Is it just my dumbness or did the Blue Jays rearrange the rotation a couple weeks ago so that Dickey would pitch on his bobble head day?
  16. I think many would agree with you, they just think AA doesn't have it in him to make these moves a this past off season kind of proves them right.
  17. This is no excuse though. All teams have a spending cap, well except for the Yankkes and Dodgers, but the point stands. He blew the budget on the Marlins trade. People forget that he had to get rid of John Buck's salary and probably factored that into what he paid the Mets for Dickey. He should've known how Rogers operates from his time as JPR's assistant when they let him spend one year only to close the purse strings the next.
  18. Maybe the Jays figured they'd shut it down after surpassing their win total from last April.
  19. How about a player-coach? I saw Bautista giving instructions to Diaz with Seitzer next to him. Maybe he told him to fake bunting and not swing even if the pitches were right down the middle.
  20. Oh god not another Latin. They have too many as it is.
  21. The Jays certainly paid for Dickey as if he was a #1 or 2.
  22. That's the big thing Gibbons, and most managers, don't seem to get in their heads.
  23. Gibbons on not bringing in Cecil or Loup in that situation: “If you’re going to one of those guys in the third inning, you’re in big trouble,” Gibbons said. “You might as well pack it in to be honest with you.” And the media just takes it in stride it seems. So it's ok to bring in Loup and Cecil down by 4 runs in the 5th or 7th inning, but not ok to try and get an out and possibly another inning and keep the team in front? f***ing retarded IMO.
