  1. One last thing, I f***ing hate it when managers hurt their teams by trying to get a guy a W, just f***ing hate it. Why the f*** do some guys get a longer leash (Dickey, McGowan) and others a shorter one (Morrow). Anyway....time to sleep.
  2. I've always thought they'd give Happ a shot at starting and after today, that's shot is closer. I just don't think they want to eat that contract along with RR's. Best case scenario, Happ pitches relatively well and some team is willing to trade for him. At that point, you trade him and call up Stroman. We saw the worst-case scenario tonight.
  3. I know, that's why I brought it up. Zaun thinks all Lind needs is more AB's against LHP's. Anyway....
  4. Positives today: Pillar, Burns, Pompey, Smith Jr and Davis had good games at the dish.
  5. First move would be Lind playing every day probably. That's one of his biggest pet peeves with Gibbons.
  6. Is it true that Zaun said something intelligent today? Apparently, he said that Gibbons should've used one of his top relievers to get out of the jam in the 5th and the long reliever to start the 6th. Hire that man!
  7. I backtracked a bit through the posts at the time of the meltdown and it seems several posters were screaming that McGowan be pulled. Gibby's been iffy on his pitching changes this year. Certainly not blaming Gibby for the loss, but McGowan has not earned a long leash, he's a meltdown waiting to happen. Anyway, let's hope they can win the series tomorrow.
  8. Did anyone else want McGowan pulled earlier than he was? Same for Redmond, I wanted him pulled after the Davis single. Oh well....
  9. Already surpassed last April's win total....bar wasn't set that high though.
  10. I agree they aren't overused and the stats back it up. They have an 8-man bullpen, they can spread the workload. Both starters and relievers need to lower the walk rate and throw fewer pitches.
  11. Bautista has reached base in all 20 games so far this season and I think Cabrera in 19 of 20 or close to it.
  12. Because he's a 2B and they signed Cano to a 10-year deal to play 2B? Oh and did I mention they already had Ackley at 2B? I'm sure several teams still want to trade for him, but they probably want too much for him at this point. Who knows what the heck they'll do. Sure would look good at 2B for them Jays.
  13. On another note, attendance seems to be down. Could be 'cause it's only April, but something to watch. Low attendance is what could get the FO fired.
  14. O's bullpen seems gassed after that tough series in Boston. We'll take it!
  15. Freaking crafty Seitzer, got everyone thinking he'd turn Goins into a .300 hitter when it was actually Thole he was talking about.
  16. BB Banter took a look at whether or not the BP has been overused, judge for yourself: http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2014/4/21/5636674/is-the-bullpen-overworked Now, yes, your point stands, in that if the starters continue to not go deep into games, it could become a problem. Gibby could've given Morrow a longer leash on Sunday, for example, but he took him out after a leadoff single in the 6th. He also let Loup throw 29 pitches and ended up using Cecil down by 2. As for Gibby's BP management, we all like the way he handles it, but there have been some iffy decisions for me so far this season. Let's hope it all works out!
  17. As soon as Dickey finds any kind of groove, I'd trade him back to the N.L. Why is he throwing 80 MPH fastballs to guys like Cruz? It's obvious his confidence is shot. Anyway....
  18. So Morrow is taken out after 95 pitches in the 6th inning of a game the Blue Jays were leading by 2 and Gibbons lets Dickey go out for the 7th in this game which was tied...head scratcher for me. I just don't get why the long leash on Dickey.
  19. So Navarro's getting 2 days off. I expected him to DH today, but who knows, Gibbons may have Dickey on a short leash tonight and wants to have the option of bringing Navarro into the game for Thole.
  20. We all are, but let's not forget he started slow last year, although a bit better than this year. I think if EE is the biggest worries offensively for this team, I think we'll take that. However, I think we're all more worried about Lawrie, 2B and injuries than we are about EE so we'll see what happens.
