  1. Abreu hit his 8th HR tonight.
  2. Maybe because it was over early last year and this year they're still at .500? Don't know really, but he's either taken pitchers out too early or too late, at least IMO.
  3. That's what I'm thinking, but who knows. I know this, I haven't been impressed by his decision-making this season (especially the last few games )
  4. I'm glad someone else noticed 'cause it looks like he's trying to blow Wagner's arm (assuming that's what you're referring to).
  5. This is what I, and others, were afraid of. Peavy was coming off a bad start, Red Sox got massacred yesterday by the Yankees and Buehrle was due for a bad start. The same applies for tomorrow and Sunday, this could be an ugly sweep. I wonder if Walker will be sacrificed soon.
  6. I think the Jays will have to score quite a few runs to win tonight and it won't be easy with Peavy coming off a bad start. Same applies tomorrow and Sunday...could be a long weekend.
  7. Thanks for that. I guess it's just recent memory kicking in. I don't think they hit a HR in Cleveland and don't think they hit more than 2 in Minnesota.
  8. I agree. I will say though that that useless half the lineup includes Lawrie, Rasmus and to a lesser extent EE and Reyes at the moment which should improve (fingers crossed) although you never know. Another issue is the homerun dependence, it seems like they score so many of their runs off the HR although I don't have the stats to back it up.
  9. AA said this same thing after the 2013 season and repeated it a couple of times during the off season. He reportedly almost signed Santana, reportedly almost got Kinsler and reportedly almost got Anderson. Bottom line: AA didn't get it done in the off season.
  10. I see the Red Sox busting out against the Jays.
  11. So am I. I was pretty grumpy yesterday, I actually called the Cruz GS to my son, just brutal. Today, I actually expected it, especially when I saw Cecil didn't have it, too bad Biggy didn't notice and left him in to implode, I thought he shouldn't have faced Jones. They'll be around .500 until AA gets his head out of his behind and gets a real 2b and a good bench player. It would also help if either Nolin or Stroman gave them a boost although they'd have to be given the chance first.
  12. Well, you said they'd be the worst team in the majors with Gose in CF which = #1 pick. I said Gose could be the starting CF in 2015, I didn't say that was my preference. Look, all I did was post some of the notable minor league performances as a contrast to the debacle at the RC. It was somewhat in jest. I'm not looking forward to anything in 5-10 years, too far away to worry about.
  13. For sure. I also don't think his usage has been that good. He's allowed pitchers to implode right in front of him when it was obvious they didn't have it.
  14. Boston's gonna be pissed coming into the weekend series. As I said earlier, this could snowball into a sweep for the Blue Jays. We know Buehrle is due to get hit around and you have Buckholz (sp?) and Lester coming off bad starts. Bibbons looked pretty worried in the dugout, hopefully he's pissed at AA.
  15. Positives for the day: Gose: 2-4 plus a BB and SB. Played RF with Mastroinni in CF. Liam Hendriks: 5.2, 5H, 1ER, 6K. Burns: 3-5, got his BA over .200 finally. McGuire: 7.1IP, 7H, 0ER, 2BB, 8K. Norris: 4IP, 3H, 1ER, 2BB, 4K. Smith Jr: 2-5. Pompey: 2-5, SB (#11 on 11 tries). Lopes: 2-3, BB.
  16. So Mottola seemed to have something good going with Rasmus and Lawrie and he gets fired.
  17. Shouldn't basketball talk be confined to the OT forum? Seems like a bannable offense to me.
  18. This could snowball over the weekend against Boston. Gibbons looks worried, not that he has helped matters with the way he's handled the pitching staff. I think Walker will be the first scapegoat. I don't think AA can fire Gibbons because he went out on a limb by hiring him and I think he knows quite a few in the media would call him out and turn on him.
  19. So when is Gibbons going to go after an umpire for the bad strike calls against his team? He seems a bit too relaxed. Ok, now I'm going to bed....
  20. I'm surprised no one's calling for Pete Walker's head.
