A couple things: I've never known a 19-year old who's hooked up with a 14-year old, but that would have lost you friends in a hurry back when I was that age. It won't land you in jail, but it's also not socially acceptable in most circles. But also, what is your point even? Because our country allows up to a 5-year age gap, a 7+ year age gap should also be considered fine by everyone in the country? Why? That doesn't even make sense.

Rays are waiting things out because they don't want to be on the hook for his contract. He'll either be suspended without pay by MLB, or otherwise unable to play because he's in prison and/or banned from the US. This is a Felipe Rivero situation - he's not playing again.

There isn't a shortage of pen arms available to the team: Romero Swanson Richards Cabrera Green Mayza White Are all pretty much locks. That's 7 guys. Then you have Rodriguez, Francis, Espino, and whoever else is brought in on MiLB deals or ST tryouts. Garcia is an easy way to cut 5M from the budget if they want to repurpose that money elsewhere. -
It's crazy how basically everything Treliving has done has backfired: - Klingberg was an unadulterated disaster - Bertuzzi sucks - Domi sucks - Reaves really sucks - the team's starting goalie is a 34-year old Martin Jones I'll never understand why Shanahan though poaching him from the mess he made in Calgary was a good idea

I think one thing you’re overlooking with your whole “maybe the 14-year old was hot” line of thinking is that it seems clear he was attracted to her because she wasn’t mentally mature and he liked the power imbalance. He wanted to mold a literal kid.
