Voted good. They'll probably end up paying around $7M per win, but it's at their biggest area of need and they're giving up nothing but money. There's also an outside chance that Searage really helped him this year.

Yup. Responsible mid-tier free agent signings are things, and it's nice to see this team actually use them rather than gut the farm for similar assets.

The current rotation is a 3+ win guy, four league average guys, and a 6th starter who could be anywhere from 1-3 wins without surprising anyone. All of this with no contracts longer than three years, no picks given up, and only Hendriks shipped out. This rotation isn't even bad.

Anyone who expected a major pitching signing has paid no attention to the way Shapiro does things. I'm sure they touched base on Kuma and Lackey, received no mutual interest, then moved to plans C,D, and E.

AA is the guy who left a rotation of Stro, Dickey, and Hutchson with no depth in AA. Shapiro and LaCava are adding bodies with as little risk as possible.

I really think the regime change happened at the perfect time. Shapiro inherits a monster offense, and will try and keep them competitive with thrifty additions like Chavez/Estrada/Happ, but he doesn't feel compelled to break the bank and make an irresponsible move for an ace. I like how this offseason has gone so far.

So the rotation looks complete. Stroman Happ Estrada Dickey Chavez I like how they were able to address it. Two short-term signings, no picks lost, and a reliever traded. Shapiro's influence.

So many similar hitters have fallen off big at this age: Jayson Werth at 36 Adrian Beltre at 36 Victor Martinez at 36 Mattt Holliday's power is on a 3-year decline and he's 35 In terms of recent hitters who remained good investments at close to 40, you're looking at David Ortiz. Letting both walk and collecting the compensation picks and salary flexibility while letting someone else gamble 15-20M/year on a couple of guys in their mid-late 30s is a pretty viable plan.
