O'Day would be amazing. O'Day, Cecil, and Osuna at the back of the pen, and to a lesser extent, Loup and Sanchez, would make for an awesome pen. Getting 5-6 innings from the mediocre rotation and then turning it over to a lights out pen featuring 3 elite arms would be pretty effective.

Mejia would be interesting too. He's out for a year, but would be under team control for 3-4 years after.

Wasn't he at 2.8 fWAR pre-trade? A half-win projected drop from 2015 is pretty reasonable given that he's 30 next year.

Steamer has adjusted Zimmermann's projection post-signing: 4.07 FIP and 2.5 fWAR in 200 IP, with his K-rate dropping to 6.67/9.

What do you think St. Louis is thinking? You don't hear much about them as a potential destination, but they have a need, it's probably just a ~10M raise this year, and Holliday is off the books soon. Is it just aversion to the risk of a 10-year commitment?

I don't think I'd give $200M to Heyward. Too much risk wrapped in one guy. There are probably <5 players I'd give that much money to.

Happ was legitimately awful to watch when he was walking 4/9 and looking like a true talent 4.5 ERA guy. He doesn't look like that guy anymore though. Last two years: 7.75 K/9, 2.62 BB/9, 3.90 ERA, 3.81 xFIP over 330 IP. Happ with command is a legit SP3. We don't need Pirates Happ, we need 2013/2014 Happ.
