  1. Free agency isn't like a store you go to and pay sticker price for whatever is on the shelf. I think we can all assume that they checked in on Lackey and Kuma and were turned down. Samardzija likely makes close to double what was committed to Happ, and might suck. Same with Kazmir.
  2. Yup. Trade Edwin for a starter and suddenly everyone is happy (and the team is worse)
  3. KC is one of the best defensive teams ever.
  4. 1. sign at least one good pen arm to a major league deal 2. non-tender Smoak and Thole 3. re-sign Thole to a league min deal 4. sign multiple minor league SP and RP to provide depth /offseason
  5. You are a very stupid person.
  6. Voted good. They'll probably end up paying around $7M per win, but it's at their biggest area of need and they're giving up nothing but money. There's also an outside chance that Searage really helped him this year.
  7. Yes it would be
  8. It feels like the fans would be happier if they'd traded Edwin for Strasburg or something.
  9. Yup. Responsible mid-tier free agent signings are things, and it's nice to see this team actually use them rather than gut the farm for similar assets.
  10. The current rotation is a 3+ win guy, four league average guys, and a 6th starter who could be anywhere from 1-3 wins without surprising anyone. All of this with no contracts longer than three years, no picks given up, and only Hendriks shipped out. This rotation isn't even bad.
  11. Anyone who expected a major pitching signing has paid no attention to the way Shapiro does things. I'm sure they touched base on Kuma and Lackey, received no mutual interest, then moved to plans C,D, and E.
  12. Not every team can trade Cespedes for Porcello then give him $100M.
  13. lol at everyone saying we can't win with that rotation after KC just won a WS
  14. AA is the guy who left a rotation of Stro, Dickey, and Hutchson with no depth in AA. Shapiro and LaCava are adding bodies with as little risk as possible.
  15. I really think the regime change happened at the perfect time. Shapiro inherits a monster offense, and will try and keep them competitive with thrifty additions like Chavez/Estrada/Happ, but he doesn't feel compelled to break the bank and make an irresponsible move for an ace. I like how this offseason has gone so far.
  16. This feels a lot like the signing you make when you strike out on Kuma/Lackey/Samardzija.
  17. A #2 and four solid arms behind him. Thoroughly unsexy, but this definitely beats giving up big assets and money for pitching.
  18. So the rotation looks complete. Stroman Happ Estrada Dickey Chavez I like how they were able to address it. Two short-term signings, no picks lost, and a reliever traded. Shapiro's influence.
  19. Maybe Salazar?
  20. I'd definitely buy Edwin being a bit of a whiny bitch.
