For some reason I had underestimated how good Edgar was. I guessed he'd have a career wRC+ of like 125, but he's at 147 with 65.5 career fWAR. This guy needs to be in the HOF. -

We have Russell Martin. Backup C is a great place to not spend much money. How do Soto, Avila, and McKenry frame? Maybe there will be some useful non-tenders in a few weeks.

Came here to post this. It looks like a big part of his great defensive metrics is his ability to generate a ton of weak ground balls back to the mound. He creates his own opportunities to make easy outs, and these helps him rack up great defensive metrics and beat DIPS. Great pitching is at least partially responsible for the great fielding metrics.

Looking at his carrer numbers would be like looking at Bautista's career numbers two years into him breaking out. I worded that poorly, but you'd expect him to beat his xFIP because he's elite defensively and is the best contact manager in the league.
