  1. Steamer has adjusted Zimmermann's projection post-signing: 4.07 FIP and 2.5 fWAR in 200 IP, with his K-rate dropping to 6.67/9.
  2. Goddamn. Didn't realize he had a stretch like that.
  3. What do you think St. Louis is thinking? You don't hear much about them as a potential destination, but they have a need, it's probably just a ~10M raise this year, and Holliday is off the books soon. Is it just aversion to the risk of a 10-year commitment?
  4. Yeah, Bryant and Correa if we're talking pre-arb guys. Not sure about Machado. I don't trust him to stay healthy.
  5. Trout, Harper, Kershaw, Stanton
  6. I don't think I'd give $200M to Heyward. Too much risk wrapped in one guy. There are probably <5 players I'd give that much money to.
  7. Happ was legitimately awful to watch when he was walking 4/9 and looking like a true talent 4.5 ERA guy. He doesn't look like that guy anymore though. Last two years: 7.75 K/9, 2.62 BB/9, 3.90 ERA, 3.81 xFIP over 330 IP. Happ with command is a legit SP3. We don't need Pirates Happ, we need 2013/2014 Happ.
  8. Nice. Hopefully Tony does it.
  9. I was talking about Toronto signing Zimmermann vs. Happ.
  10. I think 2.8 is pretty reasonable considering he's typically in the 3-3.5 range and is entering his age-30 season. Error bars are bigger on Happ, but I'm happier with a 3/36 commitment to him than a 5/110 to Zimmermann. There's also the lost first round pick.
  11. Projected fWAR: Zimmermann = 2.8 Happ = 2.0
  12. I think I guessed 6/135 in the FAP contest. I'd surprised if it was only 5 years.
  13. Tigers still have big questions at 3B, C, LF, CF, SP4, and SP5.
  14. It's hard to have strong opinions about Osuna without knowing what experts think about his mechanics and ability to hold up under a starter's work load. There's a lot of value in having him contribute 1-2 wins at the back of the pen. I'm fine with leaving him there. Sanchez I would absolutely leave. This is a guy who has never had good results as a starter and has looked dominant in relief. I want to see what he can do in 70 innings from the pen next year.
  15. Wow, it's insane that the team won 115 games or whatever with shitbags like Abbott and Halama getting a ton of starts. Their lineup was absolutely ridiculous.
  16. Off the top of my head: Moyer, Garcia, Pineiro, Sele...?
  17. Edwin is like 35% better than Cola offensively.
  18. Yeah, plus the Dickey effect.
  19. I actually don't think AA had much interest in free agency. He kept talking about how he preferred the trade route. I personally love dipping into the low-mid tier part of the pool.
  20. Are you new to the forum? Price is just the most recent player that the fans are grumbling about not signing. It happens every offseason, regardless of where the team is. People were livid when the team didn't sign Prince Fielder.
  21. If Lackey and Kuma were willing to sign here for slightly more than Happ they'd be blue Jays right now. Kuma most likely stays in Seattle, and Lackey in the NL somewhere. It's stupid to criticize the team for specific players they don't sign.
  22. Gibbers is always posting about how making moves to stimulate fan interest is a fruitless endeavour because the fans will always want more, and we're seeing that now. Acquiring Price at the deadline for a exciting run wasn't enough. People are pissed that he's not being retained. Spend more money. Trade more of the future. Who are the Phillies?
