  1. I don't have a strong opinion of Atkins either way. He's probably a mid-tier GM, and if the season continues to go up in flames he should be replaced. But if you read this forum, you'd think that the league is run by by 28 elite teams of super-geniuses who stack their teams by consistently robbing Ross Atkins and whoever runs the Rockies. Then you'd see that the team has averaged 91 wins a year for the last three years and be a bit confused about how the worst organization baseball pulled that off. In reality Toronto has lost, what, like 2 trades in Atkins' tenure?
  2. I can not even imagine the reaction on this forum if Atkins had guaranteed Bello and Rafaela $110M, wasted 40M on Giolito, or traded Chris Sale for Vaughn Grissom.
  3. 86 stuff+ and no command. Dude is going to get nuked every time out
  4. With Vlad and Bo being so bad that nobody even wants the team to extend them, this is the AL San Francisco Giants. There is no core of impact talent in place. Unless the team goes out and gets Juan Soto or something, it probably makes sense to move the remaining vets, clear all payroll commitments, and reload for 2026 and beyond. But its a tough situation because Ross Atkins shouldn't be allowed to oversee the retool. If the team keeps losing, Shapiro needs to earn his pay and properly set the direction of the franchise, which should include replacing the head of baseball ops.
  5. It doesn't look like a great situation, but they do have two things going for them: 1) nobody is signed past 2026 except Berrios, who would be traded anyway in a re-tool situation, and 2) ownership has shown a willingness to run a top-10 payroll. Things could turn around pretty quickly with a 2-year rebuild. But Ross Atkins shouldn't be allowed to oversee it, because if things get to that point in a few months he has failed at his job.
  6. Can you guys please just not?
  7. lol, good on him. I don't think I've ever seen a player have to intervene and suggest moving himself down in the lineup, but good on him.
  8. It's ridiculous. I haven't even heard the SN team really comment on the elephant in the room during broadcasts
  9. Both him and Bo should be hitting bottom third right now. It's pathetic to just keep running them out there in the top 4 and pretending like everything is Ok
  10. So is Schneider just not allowed moving Bo down to the bottom third of the order? Is the media asking what's going on with him?
  11. Ok, we've now reached gong show territory

My god I love Leafs game 7 playoff loss day every year
  13. It's true. I'm just less disgusted by Springer because he's old and has been through a lot physically, and the team should have been reasonably prepared from him to fall off a cliff at this stage of his career.
  14. May 4th and Bo and Vlad are still at -0.1 fWAR combined.
  15. Hopefully he picks it up soon enough that he's still able to have a typical season by his standards. Because I think this team is going to want him to have real trade value in the offseason.
  16. I've thought that all season. He looks checked out. And I haven't seen every game, but I haven't seen any kind of show of frustration at his play. Usually guys would show something when mired in a career worst slump.
  17. Seriously, what is going on with Bichette? He's terrible at everything right now, and looks completely checked out.
  18. Yeah. Biggest issue now is that some serious unexpected problems have popped up: - Vlad is somehow worse than last year - Bo completely forgot how to play baseball - The bullpen has kind of fallen apart: Green hurt, Mayza, Cabrera, Swanson all terrible.
  19. The leafs being eliminated tomorrow would almost make up for the Jays playing like dogshit.
  20. This isn't serious business. I don't know why it bothers some of you so much that others see their baseball team through rose-colored glasses. The "haha where's Spanky now" posts when the team loses just come off as pathetic.
  21. You're upset that a Jays fan posts Go Jays Go posts on a Jays board? I get that it's frustrating that the team sucks, but holy f*** some of you people can be insufferable dorks about it.
  22. That’s fair, but it’s also mostly a Vlad problem. Vlad and Bo this year. It’s tough to watch when you’re disgusted by what should be the team’s two best players. Assuming things stay mostly the same, a defining part of Atkins’ tenure is going to be how he pivots off the Bo/Vlad core this offseason. Running it back with them or moving them and failing to secure at least one replacement star bat will be a failure.
  23. Reading this forum you’d think people are talking about the Rockies or White Sox, not a team with 3 straight 89+ win seasons
  24. This is a more reasonable take than assuming that the Jays, after 2022, managed to assemble the worst offensive coaching staff in baseball. A coaching staff so bad that they ruin veteran major leaguers. Varsho, Turner, Schneider, Clement, Jansen, Biggio, IKF are all meeting or exceeding expectations. There are three main reasons why the offense sucks this year: A) Vlad sucks Bichette can't run, hit, or defend. Have the horrible Jays coaches finally ruined him after 9 years in the system? Or is this a Bo problem, whether physical, mental, or both? C) Springer has fallen off at 34 C) Is something the team would have expected might happen. BJMB posters talked at the time of the signing about how the back half of the deal would likely be bad, but we'll deal with that if the front half is great. And the front half was pretty good. If they can squeeze a couple of league average seasons out of him in 2024 and 2025, this isn't really a problem. I'm not sure "fire everyone" is the best response to A) and . Is it the coaching staff/front office's fault that Bo looks like a 40-year old Omar Vizquel in his 6th MLB season after being great for the first 5? Because if not, we're mostly just talking about firing everyone because Vlad is a massive disappointment.
