    It's actually not dissimilar from what they Jays have gone through: Acuna was hitting for 0 power (109 wRC+) then broke Olson is worse across the board and only has a 118 wRC+ Harris II can't hit at all (84 wRC+) Murphy can't hit at all (11 wRC+) Riley can't hit at all (82 wRC+) Albies has turned into a slap hitter Basically their offense is Ozuna

    If it was any other team acquiring him I'd say that clearing his remaining salary and getting a breathing AAA arm was a tidy piece of business. But now I fully expect Cavan to put up Craig numbers in LA.

    Yup. Management is effectively throwing s*** at the wall and hoping something sticks. Atkins keeps playing it cool for the media, but in reality he's off script and getting reckless trying to save his job. I don't think he'll be fired before the offseason, but I hope Shapiro has the sense to tie his hands as far as trades go. There should be no additions, and pending FAs should be sold.

    Probably? Jays were the high bidder for his services in the offseason - I'm not sure what has happened that would change things.

    No, if the Jays place him on waivers and he gets claimed the claiming team pays his entire salary. If he clears, rejects the assignment, and signs as a FA, the signing team is responsible for the pro-rated portion of the league minimum, as you say. I imagine the Jays are hoping to trade him, and if they can't, hoping for the small chance that he's claimed.

    I don't see it the same way. I see a bunch of "glass half empty" posters who don't really take any abuse. Because the team is bad and glass half empty is a pretty obvious read of the situation. And then 2-3 dorks who have been making the same tired jokes since April at the expense of people who seem to have upset them by being optimistic about the Jays on a Jays fan message board.

    The only teams that “sell high” are poor teams that need to constantly cycle talent because they can’t afford to pay them. Good teams get good players and then just keep them. Toronto should be selling because they suck, but a GM in this market will never sell good players when the team is actually good.
