  1. I'm thinking command guys could exploit areas of the strike zone that don't really get called strikes now, and that hitters can't hit. The corners are basically shaved off the zone as its actually called, and IIRC the zone that umpires call is like inches lower than the actual top of the strike zone. But what you're suggesting also makes sense. So who knows.
  2. Good. Bring back command guys with 91 mph heat and phase out the 96 and a slider guys who have no idea where the ball is going.
  3. Seriously though, why are players with hundred million dollar contracts playing competitive ball in the offseason? It's completely absurd.
  4. Unfortunately, I consider Acuna to have a similar risk profile to someone like Skenes at this point. Right ACL in 2021, then tweaked that knee again in ST and never looked quite right, then tore the left ACL. He might be permanently compromised. Or maybe AA shows some balls, bans him from playing winter league, and he's the top fantasy player in the league again. I might have had tunnel vision with Skenes, but I think he's a top-5 dynasty pitcher, and I don't see why he can't have a Strasburg/Wheeler career. He checks basically every box that can be checked for me.
  5. That would be solid, but it would all feel kind of pointless unless and until the team brings someone in who can fix what might be a league-worst development system.
  6. If you're paying, I'll play.
  7. Holy s*** Vlad has a 140 wrC+? When did that happen?
  8. I still think they should explore a deal for Tatis. SD has money issues, Tatis hasn't rebounded from his issues and could maybe use a change of scenery, and Preller loves to deal. Might be the easiest path to landing a potential franchise player,.
  9. In a city like Toronto, with ownership willing to spend to the tax, I don't think competent management should be concerned about contention cycles. The goal should be a development system that produces a constant pipeline of talent. And they shouldn't have to wait for the system to be completely flush with talent before spending some money and targeting a wild card spot. A couple down years to clear the remaining vet contracts from the books should be the only punted years.
  10. Yeah. I think he’s more likely than not to make the hall at this point. He just needs to not completely implode in the next couple seasons.
  11. Acuna left today's game with what looked like a serious injury to the knee that wasn't hurt a couple years ago. Starting to think that these guys should take time off instead of going home and playing Winter League
  12. I'll never not think 100+ RBI seasons are cool, or it's cool when someone puts up like 130+
  13. So Atkins gives a press conference last weekend about how there's still time but the team has to turn things around very soon. Team proceeds to go 3-4 vs. the White Sox and Tigers, and didn't even face Skubal.
  14. May 25th an Jose Ramirez has 51 RBIs
  15. 3-3 vs. Tigers and White Sox is not going to get it done. This team sucks.
  16. Seager is now 30 and has a long injury history. Not sure he's going to age great
  17. This team with the homerun jacket is absolutely incredible
  18. John Means left yesterday's game with elbow soreness. Guy can’t stay healthy
  19. Bo's play this season has possibly been the team's biggest problem this season. He's been horrific. Late May and he's been replacement level: bad offensively, bad defensively, bad on the bases. No real interest in having him on a long-term contract, and he seems like the kind of guy who will sulk if moved to 2B where he belongs.
  20. I'm not sure he's made a single out since I dropped him a few weeks ago
  21. Why not just have the umpire get the actual call on every pitch instead of restricting it to a certain number of challenges?
  22. Him, Imanaga, and Suarez are probably the three front runners for the NL CY if the season ended today. Would be cool to see him win his first one at 35
  23. I don't think the Braves wanted Contreras catching. They place a huge emphasis on C defense.
  24. The best part of that trade is that Oakland decided they didn't need him, and Milwaukee was able to sneak in and get him for Esteury Ruiz
