Blake Snell rumours picking up. Looks like he's found it, which often means he's about to be a top-10 pitcher in baseball until he gets hurt or the season ends. Probably going to opt out if he finishes strong, so it's likely a pure rental.

I don't like that trade for the Rays. Paredes is a lot better than Morel, and was still controllable for 3 more years. Bigge is a reliever and Johnson just a 220year old in high A. Weird trade.

2024 was his first arb year. He has 2 more before FA, and will probably make around 4M next year. Rays doing Rays stuff.

Romano will be non-tendered if the arm issues progress to the point where he needs TJS. Which at this point is probably at least even odds. They'll have to be pretty convinced that he's healthy to throw 10M or whatever at him via arb for his last year of team control. I think Swanson will have to shove a bit down the stretch to show that he's worth 3.5-4M for his last arb year. Little might not suck, but I don't think there's much chance he's actually good either. Maybe he carves out a niche as like the 7th guy in the pen for a couple of years. It's pretty dire. I'm not sure I could name more than 2-3 teams that have less talent in their bullpen heading into 2025.

I know that Pearson sucks, but I'm having a really hard time buying the "we're going to compete in 2025" nonsense. Aside from multiple impact bats and at least two starters they're going to need an entire bullpen. What to they have going into 2025? Green - might be traded Cabrera - should be non-tendered Swanson - should be non-tendered Romano - should maybe be non-tendered Pop - sucks Little - sucks Like, it's going to require significant investment to get that to the caliber of a contending team. In addition to all of the other improvements they have to make. It's insulting to keep telling fans that they want to win next year.

It's insane how basically every player the team would reasonably be interesting in trading has either been injured or dogshit over the last month.

Dipoto is kind of an idiot. No reason not to keep Stanek as the 4th or 5th arm in the bullpen for the playoff run. Especially with all of Munoz, Garcia, and Santos having health issues this year.

I think everyone was a bit surprised with the 3/16 contract. But it ended up being tidy business: 157 IP of 3.44 ERA ball, 2.9 WPA and 2.7 fWAR. Then traded with no $ retained for a couple of prospects. -

What are the odds he throws like 10 innings and then misses the rest of the year? like 40%? He kind of tanked his value. As have Bichette, Kikuchi, Richards, and Green. -

I think Atkins would not trade Vlad unless he's getting one of their MLB starters - he's going to make moves with half an eye on 2025. But something like Woo/Montes/Celesten (and $300M to spend on other s***) would be interesting.
