  1. If this isn't a league of Jays fans that's probably not going to get accepted
  2. I don't think we're going to see Romano again this year
  3. I've been checked out recently and thought maybe he had been running a bit hotter lately to explain this. 24 wRC+ in June 4 wRC+ the last week This team is utterly lost
  4. I'm trying to think of a good team that 'buys low' by offering long-term contracts to players who are physically compromised or coming off bad years. Drawing a blank. Good teams tend to just spend money on players who have been good recently.
  5. Yeah, Bo has been fun in the past. He hasn't been right for a year now though. I don't know if his physical tools are going to come back, but right now he's a bad defensive shortstop, bad baserunner, and bad hitter who makes very bad swing decisions. I feel like Jays fans saying the team should sign him long-term are just getting too cute with the 'buy low' idea. If its a 1-year pillow contract then sure, but right now this player just f***ing sucks, and I don't think anyone would want a multi-year deal with him in the offseason if he was coming from another org. Similar thoughts on Vladdy. When your soon-to-be FA 1B is hitting like 2023 Ryan Noda, I don't see a 'buy-low' opportunity. Just a situation where you're glad the team didn't sign him to a long-term extension.
  6. There's no way you (or anyone else) actually enjoy watching either of these two bums play baseball.
  7. WTF, I tune in and see Toronto is getting carved up by Carlos Carrasco. This is pathetic even by their standards.
  8. That is unbelievable
  9. Probably missed out on 2-3 great seasons on the front end of his career, and should still finish with about 40 fWAR. 100-150 wins, 2000 IP, maybe close to 2500 Ks. Easily the best Japanese pitcher of all-time. I don't think it's been a disappointing career. He'll be remembered.

    NHL Thread

He'll probably be there with Mario Lemieux, Howe, and Bobby Orr in the small tier of 2-3 guys behind Gretzky.
  11. I've seen all of 35 innings of him. But the only active pitcher who I think is as impressive is DeGrom. The stuff is one thing, but Skenes commands 100 on the black basically every game, and most games commands the 95 mph splinker. And also has a plus slider. It's outrageous. If he can get through the next 20 years with only 1-2 catastrophic injuries he's going to have an insane career.
  12. Honestly, all of you guys are annoying at this point and basically ruining the forum with the same back and forth across every thread for months straight. But to answer the question: Brownie's snark might be bannable depending on the context. That type of post is legit annoying. You calling out the moderation is definitely bannable.
  13. Nobody yet. Cody Poteet has been starting games for them with Schmidt out a few months.
  14. My fantasy teams are like 3-60 tonight collectively. It might even be 3.
  15. If you're going to remind people that they're losing the game every time someone posts something positive that happens, you're going to get banned.
  16. Kikuchi's FIP is never going to recover from this
  17. I think Jose Ramirez is going end up a bit like Beltre, in that people are going to look at him in his mid-late 30s and realize he low key had a slam-dunk HoF career. He has a bunch of interesting accolades, but I like that he has a real chance to become the 9th player ever with 300 HR and 300 SB. The others: Barry Bonds Bobbby Bonds A-Rod Willie Mays Reggie Sanders Carlos Beltran Andre Dawson Steve Finley 4 of those guys are in the HoF. Two more should be. He'd be only the second infielder in history to do it. Just a really unique player.
  18. I feel like Arenado's 10 straight gold gloves will elevate him beyond what you'd expect for a guy who might finish with like 50-55 fWAR. 10 straight gold gloves 300-400 HRs 1000 R 1200 RBI 5 silver slugger awards 6 top-10 MVP finishes That feels like a HoF resume to me. I think he can limp to the finish with a few 1-2 win seasons and get by on the hardware
  19. Is it just me or does their seem to be more variance in offensive performance year to year than there used to be? Feels like a lot of hitters are going full seasons now never finding 'their level'. Pitchers seem more consistent performance wise, until and unless they break. I have no idea whether this is true, or if I'm just biased because I watch Toronto, TB, and Atlanta more than any other teams and a bunch of bats on all those rosters have no-showed the season so far.
  20. There are a few position players in the process of transitioning from possible to likley/slam dunk HoFers: Freeman - slam dunk Betts - slam dunk, possible 1st ballot all-time great Altuve - slam dunk Lindor - probable Harper - probable J-Ram - probable Judge - probable Bottom 4 all seem more likely than not at this point, but still have to maintain a decent quality of play for a few more years. Seems like Goldschmidt and Arenado might be in trouble now that they seem to have had precipitous declines. Maybe they've both done enough though?
  21. Yeah. His stuff took a huge jump this year at almost 34. I've been waiting on the elbow issues.
  22. Yamamoto left his start after two innings with triceps tendonitis
  23. I can't imagine what these guys think of Bo. Not only is he out there hitting weak groundballs on the first pitch or two he sees every AB, but then he takes the field behind them and plays a position he isn't suited for and costs them a bunch of runs and extra pitches. At least the other guys on the team who can't hit provide competent defense.
  24. The problem facing Atkins is that it's not just a matter of adding a bat or two. Their bullpen has an ERA of almost 5 and there's literally no reliable arms after Garcia. And Bichette and Springer suck now. The path to looking like a contender is something like: - Add high end LF who gets a lot of value from his bat - Figure out immediately why Bo Bichette is now a below average hitter. He has a 97 wRC+ in the last calendar year, and trending down. He also can't defend and is a liability on the bases. If they can't turn him around immediately, they're f***ed. - Either fix George Springer immediately, or come to terms with the fact that he's cooked and immediately bring in a high-end RF. - Acquire at least two late inning relievers. Basically there are problems everywhere and they're not all going to be solved.
  25. Jose Abreu released. The Astros completely torched 60M with that signing
