  1. This is pretty wild https://blogs.fangraphs.com/i-hope-your-teams-big-deadline-acquisition-lasted-more-than-30-days/ Only 26 of the 44 major league pitchers traded to contenders in July are still on the active rosters of the teams that acquired them.
  2. He was on a heater, then hit the IL with a hamstring strain and hasn't really found a consistent groove since.
  3. Jose Ramirez has a shot at 40/40 (33HR and 34SB) and it feels like nobody is talking about him
  4. Well, Jordan Walker spent his entire age-20 season in AA. Chourio has now been an elite MLB player for almost 300 PA in his age-20 season. Sure he might not keep it up. But Brownie's comment about him being potentially one of the biggest stars in the league wasn't out of touch - he just has to keep playing the way he's played the last 3 months.
  5. I think he's assuming Chourio isn't a finished product at 20. Since June 1st, Chourio slashing 310/358/516 with 11 HR and 12 SB in 280 PA. Basically what Julio Rodriguez did at 21 and 22.
  6. Honestly, they should be investigated for this. Has there been a more pale team in the last few decades? And who are widely rumoured to be finished with the team this offseason? Anthony Santander and Cedric Mullins. Of course. I'm not casting aspersions on Mike Elias, but the Orioles should probably be barred from making any transactions until we figure what the hell is going on.
  7. Chourio is easily going to pass that geriatric next year
  8. Jackson Holliday is older than Jackson Chourio, who is in the middle of a 3.5 WAR rookie season.
  9. I didn't read past the first line, but I'm guessing its a full-throated defense of the Orioles. Which is not a contrarian take around these parts. It's the take of the masses. My take (the Orioles haven't been serious about winning and have actually made some pretty bad moves) is the contrarian, bold, brave take. The Orioles this year are the 2021-2023 Jays.
  10. Can't wait for Santander and Burnes to be replaced with like Verdugo and Frankie Montas, Holliday to bust, Gray-Rod to get TJS, and the Orioles to win 85 games next year.
  11. Speaking of the Orioles, I feel like we haven't properly mocked them for the fact that their big FA splurge last year was Craig Kimbrel, who is replacement level and now pitches in low leverage situations. 14M wasted. Glass houses and all that, but they're only going to win like 91 games this year, which is pretty pathetic given what they had as a core. The Jays have been that good twice in the last 3 years.
  12. You're talking about a forum that balked at trading Tiedemann straight up for Soto last offseason. There would be meltdowns over 1-year rentals.
  13. I don’t get it either. When he’s right, he’s as dominant as any pitcher in the game. The kind of guy who can carry a team through the playoffs. I’d easily give him a 5/150 deal
  14. I thought this team was going to nosedive bigly after the deadline, but they've been great. Sign Soto!
  15. This entire time I thought tangotiger was just a username and not actually Tom Tango
  16. Also Jazz Chisolm now has 4 errors in his last two games at 3B. The transition is not going well
  17. Holy crap Aaron Judge just absolutely robbed Chaparro of a HR, then doubled Wood off at first. What a stud.
  18. The Pirates are moving Oneil Cruz to CF permanently
  19. Yimi has a 6.00 ERA and 5.46 xFIP with Seattle, and is now on the IL with right elbow inflammation. Unfortunately, the team was selling a compromised asset, other teams knew it, and it hurt the return.
  20. Please get this beautiful man a broadcasting job
  21. That's insane. They've had a complete inability to find quality offensive talent from outside the org, to the point where its actually embarrassing for them.
  22. The angels extended Perry Minasisn, for some reason
  23. The Orioles big trade deadline acquisitions: Gregory Soto - generally sucks and has an ERA over 15 with Baltimore Trevor Rogers - got nuked and optioned to AAA Zach Eflin - on the IL with a shoulder injury Eloy Jimenez - replacement level through 16 games This team is not serious about winning
  24. I think he's a lock to get in. Not sure about first ballot though. A couple things working in his favour: spending his entire career with one team, and the fact that basically everyone in and around the game loves him.
