  1. I do not trust Pierce Johnson to close this out
  2. Holy hell what a f***ing game
  3. Braves fans on Reddit are blaming Snitker. I thought he made all the right calls.
  4. Wo, Iglesias in for a 2-inning save after a Jimenez implosion
  5. Yeah, I just learned that today as well. Speaking of Albies - he's having a hell of a game on both sides of the ball.
  6. Anyone else watching the Braves/Mets game? Schwellenbach clowning on the Mets through 5.
  7. Jose Ramirez is 1 HR away from the quietest 40-40 season in MLB history
  8. I think it's the the kind of thing that losing orgs like Pittsburgh do that contributes to them being a perpetual bottom-feeder. Tellez isn't good. But he's also very well-liked in the clubhouse, and the players will see it as just another slight from one of the most pathetic owners in sports. Take your pick of any of the top teams in baseball (except TB). If any of them rostered a replacement-level vibes guy all season, they wouldn't cut him with 5 days left in the season to avoid a 200K bonus.
  9. You'd think the optics of cutting someone 5 days before the end of the season to save a paltry 200K would be bad enough that you'd just hold on to him.
  10. Paul Skenes absoutely carving up the Reds right now. He seems to have developed a 70-grade changeup out of nowhere over the last couple of months.
  11. With the way Doval is pitching, he seems unlikley to get you a save or hold ROS. And might blow up your K/BB in a low leverage appearance. And pitches for a team with fewer chances at holds/saves.
  12. I just realized that the White Sox have a run differential of -301. They're also on an 11-game losing streak.
  13. This is pretty wild https://blogs.fangraphs.com/i-hope-your-teams-big-deadline-acquisition-lasted-more-than-30-days/ Only 26 of the 44 major league pitchers traded to contenders in July are still on the active rosters of the teams that acquired them.
  14. He was on a heater, then hit the IL with a hamstring strain and hasn't really found a consistent groove since.
  15. Jose Ramirez has a shot at 40/40 (33HR and 34SB) and it feels like nobody is talking about him
  16. Well, Jordan Walker spent his entire age-20 season in AA. Chourio has now been an elite MLB player for almost 300 PA in his age-20 season. Sure he might not keep it up. But Brownie's comment about him being potentially one of the biggest stars in the league wasn't out of touch - he just has to keep playing the way he's played the last 3 months.
  17. I think he's assuming Chourio isn't a finished product at 20. Since June 1st, Chourio slashing 310/358/516 with 11 HR and 12 SB in 280 PA. Basically what Julio Rodriguez did at 21 and 22.
  18. Honestly, they should be investigated for this. Has there been a more pale team in the last few decades? And who are widely rumoured to be finished with the team this offseason? Anthony Santander and Cedric Mullins. Of course. I'm not casting aspersions on Mike Elias, but the Orioles should probably be barred from making any transactions until we figure what the hell is going on.
  19. Chourio is easily going to pass that geriatric next year
  20. Jackson Holliday is older than Jackson Chourio, who is in the middle of a 3.5 WAR rookie season.
  21. I didn't read past the first line, but I'm guessing its a full-throated defense of the Orioles. Which is not a contrarian take around these parts. It's the take of the masses. My take (the Orioles haven't been serious about winning and have actually made some pretty bad moves) is the contrarian, bold, brave take. The Orioles this year are the 2021-2023 Jays.
  22. Can't wait for Santander and Burnes to be replaced with like Verdugo and Frankie Montas, Holliday to bust, Gray-Rod to get TJS, and the Orioles to win 85 games next year.
  23. Speaking of the Orioles, I feel like we haven't properly mocked them for the fact that their big FA splurge last year was Craig Kimbrel, who is replacement level and now pitches in low leverage situations. 14M wasted. Glass houses and all that, but they're only going to win like 91 games this year, which is pretty pathetic given what they had as a core. The Jays have been that good twice in the last 3 years.
  24. You're talking about a forum that balked at trading Tiedemann straight up for Soto last offseason. There would be meltdowns over 1-year rentals.
