So Hand pockets the $1M buyout, and $10.5M in salary. $11.5 in compensation after having his $10M option declined. It's always been absurd that he went unclaimed.

Would definitely prefer Paxton or Tanaka to giving up significant prospect capital to gamble on Taillon.

Nope. MLB has, in an example of shocking incompetence, still not made a firm ruling on the NL DH for 2021. They're treating it as a major concession to the PA.

It could work out if there ends up being a DH in the NL. Profar is probably the 4th OF right now, and could get a lot of reps if Myers spends a lot of time DHing. If that's the case you have Cronenworth getting the bulk of the starts at 2B, and Kim playing all around as a super-sub type. Pretty enviable depth.

4 fWAR through 159 games. Projects as a 3-win player. LIABILITY. There isn't a baseball journalist I dislike more than Keith Law. He's next level arrogant, and absolutely will not admit to being wrong. It's honestly embarrassing to witness at this point. -

I wonder what their plans are with the catchers. McGuire is out of options, and they can't really give Kirk multiple DH starts a week with Brantley/Vlad/Tellez all in the fold. They'll either have to cut McGuire or option Kirk. Does McGuire have trade value?

I really can't stress how impressive it is that the roster is so good, while at the same time the team has a loaded farm and has only one long-term contract that could even potentially become a problem. Mark Shapiro's vision for this team has been carried out successfully, and they're going to be good for a very long time.
