    I am not enjoying this game. Watching a player as ugly as Matthews wearing a jersey as ugly as the Leafs' jerseys torch my team is too much. I will now be rooting for the Washington Capitals.

    Bauer is frustrating. In a lot of ways he comes off as one of the most thoughtful and engaging players in the league, but he also shoots himself in the foot and limits his audience with comments like the one above. What's to be gained by drawing attention to an obviously fake quote?

    I know that’s a common argument, but I don’t buy it. Twitter is a tool for making public statements. People are emboldened to talk s*** to famous people because the famous people ignore it most of the time. I don’t think we should vilify a famous person for deciding to respond to something said publicly to them by another adult. If anything, the internet might be a little less toxic if people were held accountable in this way more often. Cliffs: talk s*** get hit

    Read my first FG article in months. They didn't disappoint: I can't imagine how giddy their crew of PA cheerleaders would be if literally any other player a) became the highest-earning player ever, and did with a pretty cool/unique contract structure.

    I feel like Vlad's FA contract will be a fraction of what guys like Bichette, Pearson, and even Biggio end up earning. In a world where you can rent Nelson Cruz for a year at a time for <15M, Vlad will either have to become a viable defensive player or become like a 160 wRC+ bat to get a lucrative long-term deal.

    So basically Bauer's plan is to re-enter the market every year as long as he stays healthy and effective. Probably makes like 35M in 2021 and then does it all over again next year.

    The Angels will probably bring Garrett Richards back for 10 games or whatever before he explodes again. It's sad because they legit probably are a Trevor Bauer away from being a very good team. Trout/Rendon/Ohtani/Fletcher/Adell is a very good offensive core, and guys like Iglesias, Upton, and their catchers should all be 1-2 wins at their positions. Bauer Heaney Ohtani Quintana Bundy Canning/Sandoval/Barria/Cobb Is actually pretty good. Definitely good enough to win games with that lineup.
